Annie M. Bond

WINDSOR n Annie Mae Bond, 75, a native of Bertie County, died May 12, 2008 in Baltimore, Md.

A funeral will be conducted Tuesday at Bazemore Temple COGIC, Windsor. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Edith Bryant

WINDSOR n Edith Mae Brown Bryant, 92, a native of Nash County, died May 17, 2008 at the Brian Center. She was the widow of William Chapel “Buddy” Bryant.

A graveside funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Edgewood Cemetery by the Rev. Noah Howard. The family will receive friends from 12-1 p.m. and will proceed to the cemetery in a possession and will receive friends at other times at her home 1422 S. King Street, Windsor, NC. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 302 South Queen Street, Windsor, NC or Bertie County Rescue Squad, 204 South Queen Street, Windsor, NC 27983. Mrs. Bryant was a homemaker and a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church.

Survivors include a son, William Chapel “Butch” Bryant Jr. of Idabel, OK; a daughter, Elizabeth Jean Bryant Crumpler of Goldsboro; a sister, Helen Clark of Rocky Mount; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Willard Yellorday

ROANOKE RAPIDS n Willard Yellorday, 81, died May 16, 2008 at Halifax Regional Medical Center, Roanoke Rapids.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete. H.D. Pope Funeral Home is in charge.

Fredrick Outlaw

WILLIAMSTON n Fredrick Lawrence “ Nam” Outlaw, 57, died May 15, 2008 at his residence.

A funeral was conducted Monday at United Holy Church of Deliverance. Burial was in the Outlaw family cemetery. Gilliam Funeral Home, Windsor, was in charge.

Agatha Gray

AHOSKIE – Agatha Gray, 94, a native of Northampton County, died May 16, 2008 at Guardian Care Nursing Home, Ahoskie.

She was a member of Haven Creek Baptist Church in Manteo and attended First Baptist Church Murfreesboro.  She was retired from Dare County Social Services.

Survivors include two sisters, Ida McFeeters of Murfreesboro and Lois Ridout of Newport News, Va.;  and two brothers, Connie Manley of Murfreesboro and Bravitt Manley of Portsmouth.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church Murfreesboro by Rev. Robert Richardson III.  Burial will be in Moore family cemetery, Rich Square. Condolences may be sent to www.huntersfuneralhome.com.

Clarence Futrell

AHOSKIE – Clarence Futrell,

71, a native of Hertford County, died May 16, 2008 at Guardian Care Nursing Home.  

Futrell was a member of Zion Grove Baptist Church. He

was a retired welder from Newport News Shipyard.

Survivors include his wife, Verdale Futrell of Ahoskie; one son, Clarence Futrell

Jr. of Seaboard; eight daughters, Janet Liverman, Edna Futrell, Mildred Moore, Shirley Parker and Rosa Parker all of Ahoskie, Tammy Ashby of Norfolk, Va.,

Linda Tibbs of Maryland and Jacqueline Moody of Gates; four brothers, Roy Lee Futrell of Woodland, Raymond Futrell of Norfolk, Melvin Futrell and Herman Futrell, both of Maryland; six sisters, Helen Futrell of Chesapeake, Sallie Barnes and Sarah Vaughan, both of Hampton, Marie Joyner, Mae Ella Grant and Geneva Parker of St. John and Sadie Suarez of Bronx, NY; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Oris Thomas

MURFREESBORO n Oris Thomas, died May 18, 2008 at Roanoke-Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie.

A funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday at Murfreesboro First Baptist Church by the Rev. Robert Richardson. Burial will be in Carver Park Cemetery. Reynolds Funeral Home Inc., Ahoskie, is in charge.

Survivors include three brothers, Lloyd Thomas, Whallon Thomas Jr. and Crenell Thomas; and three sisters, Hazel Deloatch, Lina Gatling and Dennie Mae Futrell, all of Murfreesboro.
