Clifton E. Outlaw Jr.

AULANDER – Clifton Earnhart Outlaw Jr., 69, died April 12, 2008 at Roanoke-Chowan Hospital.

A native of Bertie County, Outlaw was a retired worker with Brinkley Farms.

Survivors include his wife, Ola Irene Wiggins Outlaw of the home; daughters Arizona Rascoe of Lewiston, Thelma Outlaw of Bronx, NY, Brenda Archer of Durham and Linda Lee of Ahoskie; sons Clifton Rascoe of Bronx, NY, Troy Outlaw of Bronx, NY, Thomas Gatling Jr. of Roxobel, McCoy Gatling of Aulander, Larry Gatling of Lewiston, Bobby Gatling of Roanoke Rapids, Willie Gatling of Windsor and Robert Gatling of Greenville along with a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A funeral service at Mill Branch Missionary Baptist Church, Aulander, will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 19.

The officiating officer will be Rev. Ronald Dolberry.

Burial will follow in the Outlaw Family Cemetery. Wilder’s Funeral Home Inc. of Aulander is in charge of the services.

Joseph C. Lewter

PLEASANT HILL – Joseph Carson Lewter, 61, of Pleasant Hill died April 14, 2008 in his home.

A native of Halifax County, Lewter was retired from Simmons Travel Plaza in Emporia, Va.

Survivors include his daughters, Mary L. Pair and Tammy Lewter, both of Pleasant Hill; brothers, Jesse Lewter of Waynesboro, Va. and James Lewter of Roanoke Rapids; two grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on April 17 at the Chapel of Massey Funeral Home in Roanoke Rapids with Rev. Barbara D. Lewis officiating. Burial will follow at Crestview Memorial Cemetery.

Massey Funeral Home is serving the Lewter family.
