BRANCHVILLE, Va. – Emma Francis Harding, 87, died March 17, 2008.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church. Faison’s Funeral Home Inc., Seaboard, is in charge.

Rebecca F. Grandy

WINDSOR n Rebecca F. Grandy, 86, died March 17, 2008.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Pleasant Oak Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Freeman family cemetery, Windsor. Gilliam Funeral Home is in charge.

Nelson K. Simmons

PORTSMOUTH, Va.

– Nelson K. Simmons, 60, died March 16, 2008.

A funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday in Hills Chapel Baptist Church, Jackson. Faison’s Funeral Home Inc. is in charge.

Jesse E. Biggs Sr.

WINDSOR n Jesse Elbert Biggs Sr., a native of Chowan County, died March 20, 2008 at Pitt Memorial Hospital.

A graveside service with Masonic Rites will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Edgewood Cemetery by the Rev. Jim Cox. In lieu of flowers, you may send memorials to the American Diabetes Association, 2418 Blue Ridge Road, Suite 206, Raleigh, NC 27607 or the American Heart Association, 3015 South Memorial Drive, Suite A, Greenville, NC 27834.

Biggs was a member of the Masons and a Navy Veteran.

Survivors include a son, Jesse Elbert Biggs Jr. of Windsor; and two half sisters, Norma Tadlock of Elizabeth City and Elizabeth Brower of Jacksonville, Fla.

Clifton D. Beale

MURFREESBORO n Clifton David Beale, died March 19, 2008 at his residence.

A funeral was conducted Friday at Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall, Woodland, by Curtis Norman. Burial was in Carver Park Cemetery. Reynolds Funeral Home, Murfreesboro, is in charge.

Survivors include three brothers, William McCoy Beale of Olympia, Washington, Earl Beale and James Beale, both of Virginia Beach, Va.; and four sisters, Sylvia Beale of Upper Marlboro, Md., Doris B. Dozier of Jonesboro, Ga., Annie Vinson of Hampton, Va., and Fannie Holton of Virginia Beach.

Robert E. Lee III

MURFREESBORO n Robert Edward Lee III, 27, died March 20, 2008 in Tampa, Fla.

A service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Murfreesboro Baptist Church by the Rev. Lee Canipe. If you choose to honor Robert’s memory, please pause for a moment and count your blessings. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to the Murfreesboro Baptist Church Endowment Fund or to the Robert E. Lee III Scholarship at Chowan University. Bridgers Funeral Home, Inc., Conway, is in charge.

Lee was a graduate of Randolph Macon Academy in Front Royal, Va., and Chowan University, Murfreesboro.

Survivors include his father and mother, Robert E. Lee Jr. and Ann J. Lee of Murfreesboro; and his twin sister, Ann Moriah Lee of Winston-Salem.
