GASTON – A Northampton County man is dead following a scuffle here Thursday night.

Investigation is continuing as to exactly what circumstances led to the shooting death of 20-year-old Walter Daniels of 102 Lincoln Street in Gaston.

“There are other people we want to talk to as the investigation continues,” Northampton County Sheriff’s Office Detective G.S. Colson said Friday afternoon. “We believe there is at least one more male subject that we are searching for at this time.”

According to Colson, the Northampton County dispatcher received a call Thursday evening that a man was being held at gunpoint.

When officers arrived at 544 U.S. 48 in Gaston, they were directed to the back of the residence where Daniels was found dead.

Another subject, Monte Antwan Arrington, 21, of the residence, was also found stabbed. He was taken to Halifax Regional Medical Center and then airlifted to Pitt Memorial Hospital.

Colson said early investigation indicated Daniels was in the residence at 544 U.S. 48 when Arrington and a female subject entered. There was a scuffle that led through the house and into the back yard where Daniels was found dead of a gun shot wound.

Colson said the investigation and interviews would continue.
