Lady Rams defeat Community

LASKER – Ridgecroft dominated an overmatched Community Christian team during Friday night’s action of the Greater Lasker Shootout, handing the Lady Crusaders a 58-27 loss.

Community Christian kept it close in the first quarter and briefly took an 8-6 lead after scoring three straight baskets.

April Piland scored two foul shots for Ridgecroft to tie then made her next two baskets to pull the Lady Rams out front.

Buckets by Tayler Smith and Caitlin Harrison sandwiched a Jesslyn Boyette basket as Ridgecroft took a 16-10 lead into the second quarter.

Piland connected with a wide open Smith for two and Emily Cooke scored a basket to start the quarter.

Sarah Szymezyk scored for Community Christian but the Lady Rams scored 10 unanswered points, taking an 18 point advantage (30-12).

The Lady Crusaders added seven more points in the final four minutes of the first half while the Rams got a free throw from Bardin Murray to hold a 31-19 lead.

Ridgecroft scored all 11 points of the third quarter, extending their lead to 23.

An eight point Ridgecroft scoring run in the fourth put the game out of Community Christian’s reach as they fell, 58-27.

Cooke paced the Lady Rams with 19 points and Jessica Bolton added 10 in the win.
