Annie Perry

COLERAIN n Annie Perry died on August 2, 2007 at Roanoke Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday August 9 at 1 p.m. at Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church, Colerain.

Private visitation by the family will be on Wednesday.

The viewing is one hour before the funeral.

The burial will be at Zion Hill Church Cemetery following the service.

William D. Harrell

COLERAIN n William D. Harrell, 69, died August 3, 2007.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Mars Hill Baptist Church in Trap.

Thora Jenkins Whitehead

LEWISTON-WOODVILLE n Thora Jenkins Whitehead, 88, a former resident of Lewiston- Woodville, died Sunday, August 5, 2007 at The Fountains at the Albemarle in Tarboro.

She was born in Bertie County on November 11, 1918 to the late Esten and Pattie Walston Jenkins.

Thora, a homemaker, was a member of Grace Episcopal Church.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 7 at Grace Episcopal Church in Lewiston- Woodville.

Survivors include her son, Joseph Green Whitehead, Jr. and his wife, Lyn Harris Whitehead and two grandchildren.

The family received friends at Walker Funeral Home, Windsor on Monday evening, August 6.

Julia Peebles Edwards

RICH SQUARE n Julia Peebles Edwards, 66, died Thursday, August 2, 2007 at Guardian Care Nursing Home, Scotland Neck.

Survivors include sisters, Mary Louise Williams and Lottie Peebles, both of Rich Square; and brother, Grady Peebles of Rich Square

A funeral service was conducted on Sunday, August 5, 2007 at 3 p.m. at Wilder’s Funeral Home Chapel, Aulander.

The funeral home in charge was Wilder’s Funeral Home Inc, Aulander.

Julia Short Raynor

FAYETTVILLE – Julia Short Raynor, 98, died Saturday, August 4, 2007 at Highland House of Fayetteville.

Julia was born in Philadelphia, Pa. and was a long time resident of Ahoskie and Powellsville.

She was a homemaker and a member of Snyder Memorial Baptist Church.

She was a devoted mother, an avid seamstress, and she enjoyed reading and writing.

Survivors include daughters Dorothy Ennis of Fayetteville, Theresa Tayloe of Wilmington, and Earle Dilday of Fayetteville; son James William Virginia Beach, Va.; 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted Tuesday, August 7, 2007 at 10 a.m. in the church sanctuary at Snyder Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. Wayne Hamm and the Rev. Robbie Byrd officiating.

A graveside service will follow at 3:30 p.m. at Ahoskie Cemetery with the Rev. Robert May officiating.

The family received friends Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home in Fayetteville.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to The Care Clinic 239 Robeson Street, Fayetteville, NC 28301 or to Community Home Care and Hospice 5301 Morganton Road, Fayetteville, NC 28315.

MARGARETTESVILLE – Bill Fred Reece, 77, died August 2, 2007. The family will receive friends at the residence Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, Va., is assisting the family.

James Richardson Jr.

WINDSOR n James Richardson, Jr., 54, died Friday, August 3, 2007 at New Hanover Hospital, Wilmington.

James was a farmer.

A funeral will be conducted Friday, August 10, 2007 at 1 p.m. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Lewiston.

The Rev. Alma Lucas will be officiating.

Burial will take place at the church cemetery.
