ROCKY MOUNT n Willie “Homer” Bryant Jr., 81, died June 29, 2007.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at William Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, Elm City. Interment will be in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. Thursday at H.D. Pope Funeral Home, Rocky Mount.

Larry Richardson

ENFIELD n Larry Leon Richardson, 51, died July 1, 2007 at Halifax Regional Medical Center, Roanoke Rapids.

A funeral will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Wayman A.M.E. Church in Enfield by the Rev. Mildred Brown and the Rev. Herbert Scott. Interment will be in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the Roanoke Rapids Chapel by H.D. Pope Funeral Home.

Gladys B. Jones

WINTON – Gladys Bowen Jones, 82, of the 800 block of North King St. passed away on Monday, July 2, 2007, in Guardian Care of Ahoskie.

Mrs. Jones was born in Washington County, a

daughter of the late Lawrence and Rosa Lee Bowen.

She was a member of Winton Baptist Church and the church W.M.U., was past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Winton Fire and Rescue Department’s, and a past president of the women’s democratic club.

She was the widow of Carter Wallace Jones, Sr.

Survivors include two sons, Carter Wallace Jones, Jr. and wife, Paulette of Southern Shores, NC, Charles B. Jones and wife, Tracey of Winton, NC; and four grandchildren, Bowen Jones, Connor Jones, Jessica Felton, and Carter Alison Jones.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Jones was predeceased by a daughter, Barbara Leigh Felton.

A celebration of life service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 5, 2007, at Winton Baptist Church with the Rev. Tom Leonard and Rev. Frank Stansbury officiating. Entombment will follow in the Jones Family Mausoleum in the Winton Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family received friends at Garrett Funeral Home, 205 NC Highway 42 West, Ahoskie, NC from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 4, 2007, and other times at the home.
