WINDSOR – It’s not completely sold out, but if you’re looking for a ticket to this week’s 14th annual Tee & Sea Classic in Windsor, you better act now.

“We have no openings for the golf events, but there are a few tickets available for Friday’s seafood buffet and dance,” said Billy Smithwick, Chief of the Windsor Fire Department that annually hosts the event.

Smithwick added that he would not chance trying to pick-up a ticket at the last possible second.

“The meal and dance tickets are selling pretty fast,” he noted. “If you want a ticket, I would urge you to buy one as soon as possible.”

Smithwick said those seeking a ticket in the Ahoskie area could stop by Cash-N-Carry on Memorial Drive or Southern Bank on Main Street. Tickets, priced at $25 each, can also be reserved by calling the Windsor Fire Department at 794-3437.

“We’ll save you one or ever how many tickets you want, all you have to do is make the phone call,” Smithwick promised.

All events are held at Cashie Country Club.

As is tradition, the Tee & Sea Classic opens with Thursday’s (May 10) Duffer’s Golf Tournament sponsored by Action Auto and Cellular Warehouse. The field for that event is full.

“Ken Younger Night” completes the May 10 festivities. Named in honor of a late supporter of the Windsor Fire Department and sponsored by Bertie Ambulance Service, this event, which will run from 6-9:30 p.m., is open free of charge to the public. It features a live and silent auction, food and beverages as well as a reverse raffle where one person will walk away with the top prize of $5,000.

“Thursday night is free, you don’t have to spend one dime if you don’t want to,” Smithwick said. “This event is not just all about raising money. It’s about exposing our area of the state to others.”

Smithwick said there are only 200 tickets, priced at $100 each, for the reverse raffle. The total payout is $7,500.

Also on-tap for May 10 is a display of work by the Bertie County Arts Council.

Friday, May 11 is the busiest day of the Classic. The field is full for a golf tournament, with morning and afternoon tee times. The five corporate sponsors of the event will set-up hospitality tents on the course. There, Bertie Ambulance Service will be stationed at hole #1; Embarq at #3; Action Auto at #5; Cellular Warehouse at #7 and Coastal Beverage at #9.

Later in the afternoon of May 11 is the popular all-you-can-eat seafood buffet followed by a dance featuring the Band of Oz. The buffet n featuring shrimp, scallops, trout, crab cakes and clam strips n begins at 5:30 p.m.

Smithwick said due to the large crowd that traditionally attends the seafood buffet, the seating area will be expanded from 400 to 600.

The Band of Oz is scheduled to perform from 8-11:59 p.m.

Also new this year will be a dance floor set-up in front of the band on the grounds of Cashie Country Club.

As announced in February, Embarq has joined the Tee & Sea Classic as the event’s presenting sponsor.
