WINDSOR – Marc Felton tossed a no-hitter Friday as Bertie ended their season with a 12-0 loss to First Flight High School.

The Nighthawks scored four runs in the first inning, four in the second, two in the third and two in the fifth to establish the final.

Bertie managed just three baserunners in the contest.

Aaron Hoggard drew a walk in the third inning while Hunter Mizelle did the same in the second stanza and Ethan Boller in the third.

All total, Bertie used three pitchers starting with Mizelle, who took the loss after hurling one and one-third innings. Bo Ledford then pitched one inning and Scott Hoggard, the team’s lone senior, tossed the final two and two-thirds inning.

“We came out flat and made some errors that put us in an early hole,” Bertie Head Coach Randy Whitaker said. “Felton pitched a great game. He kept us off-balance.

“We have to work hard in the off-season and get better for next year,” he closed.

The Falcons finish the season 8-15 overall and 4-8 inside the Northeastern Coastal Conference.
