NORFOLK, Va. – Thomas C. Todd Sr., 81, a native of Windsor, died April 26, 2007. He was the widower of Florence Veale Todd.

Survivors include a daughter, Brenda E. Todd Jackson of Burke, Va.; a son, Thomas C. Todd Jr. of Norfolk; and three sisters, Mary Freeman of Virginia Beach, Jewel Bazemore of Laurelton, N.Y., and Marion Reid of Chesapeake.

A celebration of his life will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in First Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Springs officiating. Interment will be at Roosevelt Memorial Park. Graves Funeral Home, 1631 Church St., Norfolk, VA 23504, is in charge.

MURFREESBORO – Charles Edward Hardin, 70, died April 27, 2007.

A graveside service was conducted Monday in Riverside Cemetery. Massey Funeral Home, Jackson, was in charge.

Ada Mae Jordan

NORFOLK, Va. – Ada Mae Jordan, 72, a native of Hertford County, died April 22, 2007, at her residence.

She was a member of Garden of Prayer No. 3, Norfolk.

Survivors include three daughters, Mittize Paul, Janice Boone, Nancey Pearl; four sons, Melvin Sykes, Roosevelt J. Jordan, Earnest Lee Jordan and Daniel L. Jordan; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A funeral was conducted Monday in Garden of Prayer No. 3, 200 W. 28th St., by Elder William Dan White. Interment was in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. Ila Moore

SELMA n Ila Mae Reardon Moore, age 85, died Saturday evening in Smithfield Manor.

A loving wife, mother, sister and friend, she was born November 1, 1921 in Johnston County to the late William Bundy and Nellie G. Byrd Reardon.

She was the widow of Allie Moore who died in 1994 and was preceded in death by two stepdaughters, Yvonne Wilson and Rudene Scott.

Ila Mae was a member of the Selma Baptist Church where she was active in the Katie Stallings Circle and the Friendship Club.

Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home in Selma with the Rev. Chad Allen officiating.

Burial followed in Selma Memorial Gardens.

Surviving are her daughters, Sandra Hassell and husband Butch of Ahoskie and LaVerne Edwards and husband Danny of Pine Level, step-son, Joe Moore and wife Frances of Selma, sisters, Lucille Adkins of Baltimore, MD, Rachel Neal of Denver, NC and Nellie Stone of Ft Mill, SC. Seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

The family received friends from 7:00 n 9:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Macy C. Jenkins

CONWAY n Macy Crawford Jenkins, infant, died Friday, April 27, 2007, at Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters in Norfolk, Virginia.

She had been preceded in death by her paternal great-grandparents, Bill and Ima Jenkins and by her maternal great-grandparents, Woodrow and Mary Elizabeth Crawford Wentzy, and Kenneth Arthur Balo.

Survivors include her parents, Jonathan and Mary Jenkins of Conway; one brother, Holden Wade Jenkins of Conway; paternal grandparents, Floyd and Wanda Jenkins of Conway and maternal grandparents, D. Albert and Ruth Wentzy of Seaboard; paternal great-grandparents, Earvin Lee and Daphne Wade of Conway and maternal great-grandmother, Marjorie Balo of Prescott Valley, AZ; aunts and uncles, Jimmy and April Liverman of Conway, Andy and Sharon Wentzy of Sioux Falls, SD, and Susan Wentzy of Silver Springs, MD; and numerous cousins.

Graveside services were held Monday, 2 p.m. in the Conway Cemetery with the Rev. Paul Lee and the Rev. Willie McLawhorn presiding

Richard Jordan

PENDLETON n Richard L. Jordan, 54, died April 26, 2007.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday by the Rev. Angela Vick. Interment will be in Rising Star Baptist Church Cemetery, Branchville, Va. Faison’s Funeral Home, Inc., Seaboard, is in charge.

James W. Collier

CONWAY n James Walton Collier, 86, died peacefully in his sleep, Thursday, April 26, 2007, at Hampton Woods Health and Rehabilitation Center, Inc. in Jackson, NC. He had been preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Bell Collier and a great-granddaughter, Shelby Stauffer.

Mr. Collier was retired from the North Carolina State Highway Department.

He leaves to cherish his memory one son, Jimmy Wayne Collier of Conway; four daughters, Betsy C. Beatty of Boykins, Va., Barbara C. Carawan of Roanoke Rapids, Betty C. Gray of Maysville, and Julie C. Clark of Rich Square; ten grandchildren, Wendy Storey, Chasity Davis, Fabian Davis, Lindsay Calabro, Rick Lanier, Betsy Lanier, Jim Collier, Crystal Stauffer, Shannon Clark and Jamie Clark; and seven great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held Sunday 2 p.m. in the Conway Cemetery with Rev. Sid Collins presiding.

The family received friends, Saturday at Bridgers Funeral Home, Inc., in Conway, from 7 to 9 p.m. and other times at the family home in Conway.

James L. Cherry

WINDSOR n James L. Cherry, 97, died April 27, 2007 at his home.

Cherry was a farmer.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Windsor, by the Rev. Dr. James E. Jones Sr. Burial will be in the Cherry family cemetery. Cherry’s Funeral Home, is in charge.

Mary B. Caster

WINDSOR n Mary Bettie Caster, 54, a native of Bertie County, died April 25, 2007 at Pitt Memorial Hospital, Greenville.

A funeral was conducted Monday at Indian Woods Baptist Church, Windsor, by the Rev. Ralph White. Burial was in the church cemetery. Wilder’s Funeral Home, Inc., Aulander, is in charge.

She was a member of Indian Woods Baptist Church and past employed as a secretary with Cherry’s Amoco Service Station.

Survivors include a brother, Steven Razor of Greenville; and her sister, Annie Whitehurst, Hattie Heckstall and Rosetta Outlaw, all of Windsor.

RICHMOND, Va. n Jenet Tiller Cox, passed away on April 26, 2007, surrounded by family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mildred and Andrew Tiller, and is survived by her daughters, Lisa Bartoszek and her husband, Michael, and Christy Cox; her son, Andy Cox and his wife, Donna; grandchildren, Megan Viar, Scott Viar, Daniel McFaden, Will Hunter, Carman Hunter and Katie Stanley.

The family received guests Sunday, April 29, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the West Chapel of the Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 W. COLERAIN n Florence Jyles, 88, a native of Bertie County, died April 26, 2007 at the Brian Center.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Zion Hill Baptist Church, Colerain, by the Rev. Nathaniel Thompson. Burial will be in the Riddick family cemetery. Hertford County Undertakers, Winton, is in charge.

She is survived by a sister, Ezell Elmandorf of Massawdox, Va.

Eva O. Futrell

GREENVILLE – Eva Odom Futrell, 93, formerly of 1560 Thornblade Boulevard and currently a resident of National Health Care, died Sunday, April 29, 2007.

Born October 1, 1913 in Northampton Co., North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late John Odom and Ema Jane Johnson Odom.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Robert G. Futrell.

Surviving are a daughter, Jean F. Vinson and husband, Carroll of Greer, SC and a son, Robert G. Futrell, Jr. and wife, Ann of Eden, NC; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, May 5, 2007 at 2 PM in the First Baptist Church of Murfreesboro, 200 West Main Street, Murfreesboro, NC.
