Bank customer robbed at gunpoint

AHOSKIE – A lone suspect robbed a woman at gunpoint as she sat in her vehicle in the Southern Bank parking lot here yesterday (Monday).

According to police reports, an employee of Duck Thru Markets had driven to the bank, located on Main Street, to make a deposit at around 3:30 p.m. Meanwhile, the suspect pulled his vehicle behind the victim’s car and approached her before she was able to exit.

Aiming a black handgun at the victim, the suspect demanded the bank bag, which the woman surrendered without incident.

The victim was not injured.

An undisclosed amount of money was taken.

The suspect, described as a young black male with a tall and slender build and wearing a black doo-rag over his face, was last seen heading west on Church Street operating a mid-size, shiny silver car.
