Lady Eagles top Rams

LASKER – Senior Jessica Duncan struck out nine batters, leading Northeast Academy to a 9-1 victory over Ridgecroft.

Duncan batted first for the Lady Eagles and was walked. LeAnn Barnes doubled to center field.

With two Northeast outs Lori Coggins hit past second base and Kathryn Bryant hit to left field.

All four batters plated to give the Lady Eagles a 4-0 advantage.

After holding Ridgecroft scoreless Northeast continued to run the bases.

Callie Burgess, Lindsey Bridgers and Coggins all came home in the second.

Ridgecroft came back to get the final two outs of the inning with the bases loaded as Northeast took a 7-0 advantage.

The Lady Rams scored their sole run of the game in the third as Keri Daley crossed home.

Northeast would add two more runs in the third from Barnes and Burgess to take a 9-1 victory in seven innings.

“We’re playing better ball,” said Northeast head coach Joella Brown. “We’ve had the girls play different positions over the season to find the best fit and now they’re becoming accustomed to their position.

Barnes led the Lady Eagles with a double.

Coggins and Bryant each hit a single in the victory.

The win improves Northeast to 6-8 on the season.
