MERRY HILL – Lawrence Academy continued their perfect streak inside the Tarheel Independent Conference.

The Lady Warriors, who haven’t lost a league game since 2004, swept a pair from Terra Ceia Christian School to improve to 3-0 in the conference and 5-1 overall.

In game one, Kendall Street tossed a complete game one-hitter to lift Lawrence to a 6-0 victory. Street added 10 strikeouts in the victory that improved her to 4-1 on the season.

Sarah Capehart, Jennifer White and Ashtyn Mizelle were each 2-for-3 on the afternoon to lead the Warriors offensively. Leanne Eubanks was 1-for-3 in the contest with a homerun and three RBIs.

“I was very pleased with our defense,” Warriors mentor Bill Swain said. “We were also sound offensively.”

In game two, White picked up her first pitching victory of the season as she led Lawrence to a 2-1 win over the Lady Knights.

Swain was also pleased with the play of Kendra Spruill behind the plate during the contest.

Ashley Swain led the team on offense with a 1-for-1 day with a double. Mizelle and Courtney Mizell were 1-for-2 at the plate while Street and Debbie Stotesbury were each 1-for-3.

Laura Van Essendelft led Terra Ceia by going 2-for-3 at the plate.

“We had a great game defensively,” Swain said. “Our young players did very well.”
