WINDSOR – Bethel Christian Academy has been extremely successful in basketball.

That success, however, carries its burden at a small school. The Eagles have several players who are currently doing double duty as they prepare for the national tournament in basketball, but also play on the baseball field.

Bethel still was able to plate six runs Monday before falling to Pungo Christian Academy 15-6.

“The guys played very well,” Eagle skipper Ronald Cullipher said. “Practice has been very limited due to basketball season continuing, but I thought overall we did well.”

Bethel trailed 3-0 heading into the bottom of the second, but plated two runs in each of the second, third and fourth innings to get within 8-6.

The Raiders, however, put five marks across the plate in the fifth to pull away.

“We hit the ball and I thought Frank Feher and Josh Askew each did a good job pitching,” Cullipher said. “Overall, I was pleased with our first game.”

The Eagles are back in action Friday when they welcome non-conference foe Northeast Academy.
