ROANOKE RAPIDS n Major Levy Clarke Jr., 40, died February 15, 2007 at Halifax Regional

Medical Center.

A funeral will be conducted on Wednesday at Matthew Barrett Funeral Home, Brooklyn, NY. Interment will be in Rosehill Cemetery in Linden. H.D. Pope Funeral Home, Roanoke Rapids, is in charge.

Blanche H. Holloman

AHOSKIE n Mrs. Blanche H. Holloman, age 100, died Friday, February 16, 2007 at Guardian Care in Ahoskie, NC.

Mrs. Holloman born May 7, 1906, in Bertie County, NC, the daughter of the late Ernest Roland Holloman and Sallie Mitchell Holloman. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Roy C. Holloman Sr. and a son, Roy C. Holloman, Jr. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Ahoskie, NC.

Survivors include her daughter, Doris H. Parker of Ahoskie, NC; two sons, Eugene “Gene” Holloman of Sheridan, Ark., and Charles R. Holloman of Midlothian, Texas; a sister, Bertha H. Young of Augusta, Ga.; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Graveside services will be held, Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2007 at 2 p.m. at Ahoskie Cemetery with the Rev. Robert May officiating.

The family received friends at Massey Funeral Home in Aulander, NC, Monday from 7 until 8:30 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Audrey D. Bunting

PORTSMOUTH, Va. – Audrey Dickens Bunting, 78, a native of Scotland Neck, died February 17, 2007, in her residence.

Mrs. Bunting was a member of Grove Park Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Kenneth E. Bunting Sr.; a son, Kenneth E. Bunting Jr. of Portsmouth; three daughters, Audrey Leigh Wilson of Chesapeake, Alice Ritchie of Suffolk, Nancy Bell of Portsmouth; four sisters, Mary Jernigan of Woodland, Joyce Brett and Anne Futrell, both of Murfreesboro, and Faye Rawls of Windsor; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Grove Park Baptist Church by the Rev. Steve Allsbrook. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grove Park Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, Tuesday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Charles N. Stradley

FRANKLIN, Va. – Charles Nelson Stradley, 80, a native of Murfreesboro, died February 16, 2007. He was the widower of Kathleen Cooke Stradley.

Stradley was a Navy veteran of World War II and a retired wallpapering contractor.

Survivors include his stepson, Tom Weir of Raleigh; a sister, Clara S. Worrell of Holland; a brother, Bobby Stradley of Franklin; and a half-sister, Edith Lovitt of Georgia;

A graveside funeral with military honors were conducted Monday at Meherrin Baptist Church Cemetery in Murfreesboro with the Rev. Dr. Ira D. Hudgins. Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, was in charge. The family suggests memorials be made to any charity that helps children.

Jessie Parker

MURFREESBORO n Jessie Parker, 91, a native of Hertford County, died February 16, 2007 at his residence.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at Parker’s Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. Fernando E. Temple Sr. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A viewing will be held from 1:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hertford County Undertakers Chapel, Winton.

Survivors include his wife, Annie H. Parker of the home; two daughters, Arna L. Scott of Murfreesboro and Gwendolyn Marshall of Rocky Mount; one brother, Glaston Parker of Murfreesboro; three sisters, Beatrice Hart of Philadelphia, Pa., Mary B. Everette of Ahoskie and Arna Mitchell of Murfreesboro; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Virgil Harrell Jr.

AHOSKIE n Virgil Harrell Jr., 62, died February 16, 2007.
