JACKSON – It was a successful and busy last week for the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office.

Two drug busts took place on Saturday, both in the town of Seaboard, according to Captain George Reed of the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office.

On Saturday a call from a concerned citizen was received about a couple allegedly selling marijuana outside of the Cupboard Convenience Store on Central Street in Seaboard.

Reed said after surveying the scene, William Earl Futrell, 42, and his wife Rosette Futrell, 39, were arrested. Both are residents of 1315 Morreene Road in Durham.

The Futrells were charged with carrying a concealed weapon as a .380 pistol was seized from their vehicle.

Marijuana was found on Rosette Futrell and she was charged with possession of marijuana as well.

Both were released on Sunday from the Northampton County Jail, William Futrell on a $500 secured bond and Rosette Futrell on $1500 secured bond.

A court date of March 15 is set for the couple.

Reed also reported the arrest of Rasheed S. Alston, 26, of 435 Peanut Market Road in Seaboard on Saturday.

After receiving tips from the Crime Stoppers line and surveying Alston’s residence, the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office obtained a search warrant.

Reed said a search of the residence, with the help of Deputy Beaufort White and his K-9, Bliss, revealed three and a half ounces of marijuana in an Igloo Cooler.

A pump shot gun and $181 were also found and seized.

Alston was charged with possession with intent to manufacture and deliver marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and maintaining a physical place and dwelling for controlled substance.

Alston is behind bars at the Northampton County Jail. His bond is set at $15,000.

Reed expressed gratitude towards the public who took the initiative to inform the Sheriff’s Office.

“I’d like to say thanks to the concerned citizens for notifying us,” he said.

Reed also encouraged the citizens to continue to use the Crime Stoppers tip line.

From a judicial point, Reed said three other individuals have been convicted and sentenced for drug related crimes.

In superior court last week, Antonio Tugh pled guilty to possession with intent to manufacture and sell cocaine and received six to eight months.

Reginald Boone also pled guilty to intent to sell and deliver cocaine and received 12 to 15 months. Reed said it has been eight months since Boone’s last offense.

Titus Manley pled guilty as well to the charges leveled against him. Manley will serve 15 to 18 months for intent to sell and deliver cocaine.
