TCCS tops Ridgecroft

TERRA CEIA – Ridgecroft suffered their second setback of the week here Thursday night.

The Lady Rams trailed Terra Ceia Christian School 33-31 late in the contest, but gave up eight unanswered points to fall 41-31 in the Tarheel Independent Conference outing.

“We allowed Terra Ceia to score the last eight points and got out-rebounded for the second game in a row,” Rams’ skipper Doug Cobbs said.

Terra Ceia jumped out to an early lead, holding a 12-5 advantage after one period, but the Lady Rams battled back to get within 17-13 by the intermission.

Both teams scored six points in the third quarter, leaving TCCS with a 23-19 advantage heading into the final period.

Ridgecroft closed within two, but didn’t get back into the lead.

Lauren Lilley led the Rams with 11 points while Hayes Bryant chipped in 10 in the loss.

Jo Revelle Murray had five points for Ridgecroft while Victoria Brown and Kristen Cayten added two each. April Piland rounded out the scoring with one point.

Jordan Cantrell led the Lady Knights with 17 points while Kalissa Van Vuren added nine and Mariah Van Essendelft contributed seven. Kristina Van Staaldainen added six and Lauren Ashley two points.

The loss dropped Ridgecroft to 7-4 overall and 2-2 inside the TIC.

They will take the floor again Tuesday at Wayne Country Day School for a non-conference affair.
