BELHAVEN – Trailing 3-2 with 5:22 to play in the first quarter, Lawrence Academy outscored Pungo Christian Academy 19-6 to open up a lead of 21-1 with 4:42 to go in the first half.

After trading baskets and free throws, Lawrence would close the half leading 29-16.

Pungo would slow the game in the third quarter, outscoring Lawrence 11-9, but still trialed 38-27.

Once again, both teams would score almost equally in the fourth quarter with Lawrence holding a 13-12 advantage to end the game with a 51-39 win.

Lawrence’s victory improved its Tarheel Independent Conference record to 3-2 and its overall record to 9-7.

The Warriors were paced with 15 points by Judd Whitehead and Marshall Ellis. Ellis also pulled down 10 rebounds while Michael Cseko collected nine boards.

Gray Harrell led Lawrence with four steals.
