Margie L. Revelle

Margie Landing Revelle, 85, died Tuesday, December 26, 2006, after a short illness. She had been preceded in death by her parents, Putnam and Daisy Landing Revelle.

After graduating from Norfolk Business College, she became a Bank Teller and a homemaker and was an active member of Murfreesboro Baptist Church. She was, also, a member of the Murfreesboro Exchangettes Club.

Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Carson E. Revelle of their home; two sons, Dillon E. Revelle and his wife, Jane, of Suffolk, VA, and C. Allen Revelle and his wife Nancy, of Murfreesboro; and four grandchildren, Allen L. Revelle and his wife, Ashley, of Ahoskie, Mary Catherine Revelle and Matthew Revelle of Suffolk, VA., and Brandy Revelle of Murfreesboro.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 28, at 2 p.m. in Murfreesboro Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Lee Canipe officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Murfreesboro.

The family has requested that anyone wishing to share a memorial gift may do so to Murfreesboro Baptist Church.

Bridgers Funeral Home, Inc. in Conway is in charge of arrangements.

Johnny Jones

MILLENNIUM, NC n Johnny “Buddy” Jones, age 68, of Millennium died December 25, 2006 at Pitt Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Jones was born July 9, 1938, the son of the late Benjamin Jackson Jones and Sadie White Jones. He was also preceded in death by his wife Gloria Dean Jones. He was a retired truck driver.

Survivors include his son, Johnny “Brad” Jones and his wife, Melanie: and his sisters, Lula Lassiter, Jean Malone and Dale Jones.

Funeral services will be held, Thursday, December 28, 2006 at 2 p.m. at Millennium Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial will follow at Job Cemetery.

The family received friends at Massey Funeral Home, Aulander, NC, Wednesday from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m.

John A. Parker

NORFOLK, VA n John A. Parker, 70, of 418 Virginia Avenue, died Tuesday, December 26, 2006 at Sentara Hospital.

A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday, December 29 at St. Mark’s R.Z.U.A. Church at 1513 Colonial Avenue in Norfolk.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Saturday, December 30 at Mt. Ararat Baptist Church, 305 Cow Track Road, Windsor.

Visitation will be held from 2-7 p.m. Friday, December 29 at Gilliam Funeral Chapel, 706 Ghent Street in Windsor.

Burial will be at the Outlaw Family Cemetery in Windsor.

Mary J. Nelson

ROANOKE RAPIDS n Mary J. Nelson, 67, died at Halifax Regional Medical Center Monday, December 25, 2006.

A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday, December 29 in the Roanoke Rapids Chapel of H.D. Pope Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 30 at the Church of Deliverance in Weldon with the Rev. Arthur Vincent officiating. The internment will take place immediately following the service in Crestview Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids.

These professional services have been entrusted to H.D. Pope Funeral Home in Roanoke Rapids.

Alice G. Bazemore

CHESAPEAKE, VA. n Alice Gilliam Bazemore, 79, a native of Bertie County, died Wednesday, December 20, 2007.

She was a member of St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church Nursing Ministry and Senior Missionary in Portsmouth, Va.

Survivors include a daughter, Betty Jean Moore; two sisters, Louise Askew and Nancy Bowman; a brother, Thomas Gilliam; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 26 at St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Curtis E. Edmonds Sr. officiating. Burial followed in the Thompson Family Cemetery in Lewiston.

Wilder’s Funeral Home Inc. of Aulander and Corprew Funeral Home of Portsmouth, Va. were in charge of arrangements.
