APD seeks rape suspect

AHOSKIE – An Ahoskie man is on the run after an alleged sexual offense here in the early morning hours of Dec. 22.

Warrants have been drawn for the arrest of Sterling Devon Moore, 29, of 410 North Catherine Street. Moore is wanted for first degree forcible rape, first degree kidnapping and for a first degree sexual offense.

Moore, a black male, was last seen wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans. He reportedly stands 5’-10” in height and weighs approximately 185 pounds.

According to a report filed by Ahoskie Police Officer Ty Metzler, Moore visited a residence located in the 400 block of Catherine Street where the female victim resides. There, he was to visit his child, but the stopover allegedly turned violent as he reportedly committed the crimes against the adult female victim.
