Various offices throughout the Roanoke-Chowan will be closed next week for the holidays, and there are some changes to trash pickup schedules.

In Bertie County:

* County offices closed Dec. 24-26 and Jan. 1; all trash collection sites closed Dec. 25

* Windsor n Town hall closed Dec. 24-26 and Jan. 1; trash pickup for Dec. 24 changed to Dec. 27, trash pickup for Dec. 25 changed to Dec. 28, trash pickup for Jan. 1 changed to Jan. 2

* Colerain n Town hall closed Dec. 24-26 and Jan. 1; trash pickup remains same (Thurs.)

* Aulander n Town hall closed Dec. 24-26 and Jan. 1; trash pickup remains same (Thurs.)

* Powellsville n Normal office hours (Wed. & Fri.); trash pickup remains same (Mon.)

In Gates County:

* Gates County government offices will be closed Dec. 24-26 and Jan 1. The Gates County Sheriff’s Office will be open. Gates County citizens using the county’s public water system can call (pager) 862-1821 or dial 9-1-1 if they experience water problems during the holiday period.

* Gates County’s convenience (trash) sites will be closed all day on Dec. 25-25 as well as Jan. 1.

* Trash collection for the Town of Gatesville will also be affected by the holidays. Gatesville citizens are asked to note that since the normal collection day is Tuesday, trash pick-up will occur one day later than usual. Those collection dates for the next two weeks will be on Wednesday (Dec. 26 and Jan. 2).

In Hertford County:

* County offices closed Dec. 24-26 and Jan. 1; trash collection sites closed Dec. 25; landfill scales closed Dec. 24-26

* Ahoskie n Town offices closed Dec. 24-27 and Jan. 1; trash pickup for Dec. 26 changed to Dec. 27, trash pickup for Dec. 28 changed to Dec. 29

* Winton n Town hall closed Dec. 24-26 and Jan. 1; Tuesday trash pickup cancelled, will be picked up with Friday’s run

* Murfreesboro n Town offices will be closed Dec. 24-26 and Jan. 1; residential and commercial trash collection normally scheduled on Tuesdays will be picked up on Wednesday, Dec. 26; Friday’s (Dec. 28) collection date is moved to Saturday, Dec. 29; recyclables normally collected on Wednesdays will be moved to Thursday, Dec. 27; the Tuesday, Jan. 1 residential and commercial garage collection will be moved to Wednesday, Jan. 2.

* Harrellsville n Town hall closed Dec. 24, Dec. 25 and Jan. 1; trash pickup for Dec. 25 changed to Dec. 28

In Northampton County:

* County offices closed Dec. 24-26 and Jan. 1; countywide trash pickup (including all towns) cancelled for Tues. and each day’s trash to be picked up a day late

* Woodland n Town hall closed Dec. 24, Dec. 25 and Jan. 1

* Rich Square n Town hall closed Dec. 24-26 and Jan. 1

* Conway n Town hall closed Dec. 24-26 and Jan. 1

The Roanoke-Chowan News-Herald office, newsroom and advertising department will be closed Dec. 24-25. The Tuesday edition of the Roanoke-Chowan News-Herald will be available on Monday, Dec. 24.
