LASKER – Northeast Academy gave the crowd something to cheer about as the Collin Sneed era began with the Eagles hosting Arendell Parrott Academy last night.

While Parrott may have taken the 26-6 win, the Eagles showed vast improvement over the last several seasons as they compiled 287 yards of total offense.

It looked as if the Eagles would find the end zone first as Northeast drove from their own 35 to Parrott’s 26 in 10 plays.

Quarterback Drew Pinnix’s pass was intercepted at the 8-yardline, stopping the Eagle’s drive.

Parrott capitalized on the turnover, capping a five play possession that ended with Tillman Snead’s 48-yard sprint to the endzone.

Ren Edwards ran in the fake kick for the two-point conversion to put Parrott ahead, 8-0.

The Eagles defense came up big to start the second quarter.

Senior James Sykes recovered a fumble to set the Eagles up on their own 11-yard line.

The Eagles were unable to capitalize as Parrott’s defense held them to four-and-out.

Jason Jarman returned the ensuing punt 48 yards to the Northeast 1-yard line.

Quarterback Coutney Killenger took the ball in for the score.

A failed conversion left Parrott with a 14-0 lead.

The Eagles missed an opportunity to reach the end zone in the final minutes of the second quarter.

With under a minute on the clock the Eagles drove to the 15-yard line.

After a 6-yard loss, Arch Harrell rushed for 14 yards to the Parrott 7-yard line.

Time ran out on the Eagles, leaving them just yards away from their first score of the season.

Parrott wasted no time in the third quarter as Jarman returned Chris Futrell’s kickoff 69 yards for the score.

Again the conversion failed but Parrott extended their lead, 20-0.

On their next possession Northeast drove 41 yards, including a 24-yard run by Brodie Harrell, to reach Parrott’s 27-yard line.

They were unable to convert on fourth down, and Parrott took control of the ball.

It wasn’t long before Northeast had the ball as the defense came up big again.

This time it was Josh Jenkins recovering a Parrott fumble.

Again the Eagles were unable to capitalize, turning the ball over on downs.

The teams traded possession without a score until the fourth quarter.

With 10:44 on the clock Killenger ran three yards for the score, finishing a series that started in the third.

His pass was incomplete as Parrott held a 26-0 advantage.

The ensuing kickoff was not returned and the Eagles offense set up shop on their own 37-yard line.

A. Harrell rushed 35 yards in four plays to put Northeast on Parrott’s 28-yard line.

Brandon Futrell handled the next two carries, gaining 12 yards.

Pinnix then rushed for 15 yards, reaching the Parrott 1-yard line.

Futrell scampered in for the 1-yard score.

The extra point attempt failed, leaving Parrott with a 26-6 win.

A. Harrell led the Eagles with 135 yards.

B. Harrell added 65 yards in the loss.

Parrott, last season’s state runner-up, was led by Snead with 106 yards.

Northeast will host Word of God next Friday night at 7:30 p.m.
