ROCKY MOUNT n Willie Clarence Lewis, died July 31, 2006 at Duke Medical Center, Durham.

Quentaz Johnson

ROANOKE RAPIDS n Infant Quentaz Johnson, died July 28, 2006 at Halifax Regional Medical Center, Roanoke Rapids.

A graveside service was conducted Wednesday at Oakridge Cemetery, Weldon, by Elder James Easter. H.D. Pope Funeral Home, Roanoke Rapids, was in charge.

Rev. B. Parks Jr.

HILLSIDE, NJ n Rev. Bennie Norman Parks Jr., 74, a native of Raleigh, died July 26, 2006 in New Jersey.

A funeral was conducted Tuesday at Union Baptist Church, Passaic, NJ. Carnie P. Bragg Funeral Home was in charge.

Rev. Parks was pastor of Bibleway Deliverance Church, Passaic. He served as a Corporal in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and worked as a brick mason. He was also a minister.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Littlejohn Parks of Hillside; sons, James Parks of Pageland, SC, Lorenzo Parks of Charlotte and Jonathan Love Littlejohn of Roselle; daughters, Diane Saunders of Mint Hill, Annette Prince and Elsie Parks, both of Paterson and Josette Littlejohn of Hillside; 14 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

William A. Hicks Jr

HOBBSVILLE -William Allen &uot;Billy&uot; Hicks Jr., 42, died July 30, 2006.

A private memorial service was held Tuesday in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home, Gatesville.

L. Richard Stallings Jr.

BELVIDERE – Louis Richard Stallings Jr., 65, a native of Perquimans County, died July 30, 2006, in Chesapeake General Hospital.

Stalling retired after 47 years as a warehouse manager for Allied Security Storage and Van Company. He was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church, the Turnpike Hunt Club where he served as president and the former Chowan River Moose Club. Stallings served as coach of the Belvidere-Whiteston Little League team for 28 years. Survivors include his wife, Patricia Ann Wiley &uot;Patsy&uot; Stallings; two daughters, Diane White and Brenda Winslow; a son, Ricky Stallings, all of Belvidere; two sisters, Geraldine Driver of Wilmington, Del. and Judith Lowman of Belvidere; two brothers, Clyde E. Stallings of Virginia Beach and Donald Ray Stallings of Belvidere; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

A funeral was held Wednesday in Bethany United Methodist Church. Burial followed in Up River Cemetery. Kenneth Anderson Jr.

GASTON n Kenneth Staten Anderson Jr., 11, died July 29, 2006 at Pitt County Memorial Hospital, Greenville.

A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Roanoke Rapids Chapel of H.D. Pope Funeral Home. A funeral will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Garysburg Elementary School, 504 Hwy. 46, Garysburg, by the Rev. Michael Alston. Interment will be in Oakridge Cemetery, Weldon. In lieu of flowers, contributions to offset Kenneth’s funeral expenses are being collected by the Rev. Michael Alston of Christian Ministry, Inc. Contributions can be mailed to CMI, P.O. PHILADELPHIA, Pa. n Leroy Carter Thompson, a native of Bertie County, died July 31, 2006 at Jefferson University Hospital, Philadelphia.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Weeping Mary Baptist Church, Lewiston, by the Rev. Johnnie Cofield. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Reynolds Funeral Home, Inc., Ahoskie, is in charge.

Survivors include one son, Billy Denny of Philadelphia; two daughters, Barbara Taylor and Tina Thompson, both of Rich Square; four brothers, Samuel “Sam” Thompson and Daniel Thompson of Philadelphia, Morris J. Thompson of Union Township, NJ, and Melvin Thompson of Washington, D.C.; two sisters, Amaza Thompson of Lewiston and Jenette Ruffin of Rich Square; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Maude S. Williams

HACKENSACK, NJ n Maude Smallwood Williams, 94, died Thursday, July 27, 2006 at Bergen Regional Hospital, Paramus.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Gilliam Funeral Home Chapel, Windsor. Burial will be in Indian Woods Baptist Church Cemetery, Windsor.

June Elizabeth Morris, 55, a native of Bertie County, died July 30, 2006 at Pitt Memorial Hospital, Greenville.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Aulander First Baptist Church by the Rev. Vernon Lassiter. Burial will be in the Freeman family cemetery, Powellsville. Wilder’s Funeral Home, Inc., Aulander, is in charge.

She was a student at Roanoke-Chowan Community College.

Survivors include her children, Sean Andre Morris, Sharon Renee Morris and Ralph Temayne Morris, all of Aulander, Crystal Morris Dennis of Colerain and Rhonda Morris Ashe of Conway; brothers, James Morris of Ahoskie, Maurice Morris of Bronx, NY and Antonio Hayes of Harlem; sisters. Mable Flood of Powellsville and Trenia Leary of Aulander; and six grandchildren.

Julius Kennedy Jr.

RICH SQUARE n Julius Kennedy, 64, a native of Pitt County, died July 29, 2006 at Warren County Nursing Home, Warrenton.

Kennedy was a retired truck driver for Perdue, Inc.

Survivors include his wife, Erma Jean Deans Kennedy of Rich Square; sons, Julius Anthony Kennedy, Michael Andre Kennedy and Julius Daisell Kennedy, all of Rich Square, Jason Shawn Kennedy and Kaijuan Amar Kennedy, both of Ocala, Fla.; a daughter, Lisa Dawn Kennedy of Ocala; brothers, Elbert Kennedy of Virginia, Charles Kennedy of NY and William Kennedy of PA; sisters, Mildred Anderson of Greenville, Magdaline Kennedy of Virginia, Jeanette Thompson of NY, Joan Rivers of Pennsylvania and Alberta Lucas of NY; and 10 grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Wilder’s Funeral Home Chapel, Aulander, by the Rev. Lycurgus Harrell.

ROCKY MOUNT — Austin Cooper, 89, died August 1, 2006 at Nash General Hospital.
