Elwood Stichberry

AHOSKIE n Elwood L. Stichberry, 57, a native of Maryland, died July 22, 2006 at Three Rivers Nursing.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Easton Maryland at Spring Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the wife’s home, 2305 US 13 North, Ahoskie. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be given to The American Cancer Society. Walker Funeral Home is in charge. Williamson Funeral Home, Maryland, is in charge also.

Stichberry was a lab technician with Perdue Farms, Lewiston.

Survivors include his wife, Loretta R. Stichberry of Ahoskie; one son, Lawrence Edward Stichberry of Chicago, Ill.; and two brothers, James “Jimmy” Stichberry and Johnny Stichberry, both of Maryland.

Dallas M. Stanton III

MURFREESBORO – Dallas Mifflin Stanton III, 88, a native of La Grange, died July 21, 2006.

Stanton was a retired locksmith, an Army Air Corps Veteran of WWII, and a Methodist.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Byrd Stanton; two daughters, Judy C. Avery of Smithfield, VA., and Brenda C. McKinzey of Richmond; one sister; Sadie Stanton of Cary; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A funeral was conducted Monday at Murfreesboro United Methodist Church by the Rev. Arthur Warren and Rev. David Ross. Burial was in Ashley’s Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 903 B Wellness Dr. Greenville, N. C. 27834. Garrett Funeral Home, Ahoskie, was in charge.

Annie Sessoms

COLERAIN n Annie Cherry Sessoms, died July 23, 2006 at her residence.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete. Reynolds Funeral Home, Inc., Ahoskie, is in charge.

Roosevelt Peele

MURFREESBORO – Roosevelt Peele, 48, a native of Hertford County, died July 16, 2006 at Roanoke-Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie.

Peele was a member of First Baptist Church, Murfreesboro.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Louise Peele; three sons, Roosevelt Peele, Jr., James Peele and Trey Peele; five daughters, Von Peele, Amanda Peele, Carmalisha Britt, Tina Dillard and Re’Kindra Britt; his mother, Blanche Lassiter of Murfreesboro; and five grandchildren.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at funeral home. Hunter’s Funeral Home, Inc., Murfreesboro, is in charge.
