AHOSKIE – Ahoskie Recreation League conducted a variety of games recently.

Andy’s – 12, Savin & Hill – 6

Andy’s scored five runs in the fifth to open up a lead and held on for a 12-6 Junior League victory over Savin & Hill here June 23.

Miles Harrell struck out seven in picking up the itching victory while going 3-for-4 at the plate.

Corey Saunders led Andy’s offensively with a 4-for-4 day including a triple. Tony Adams was also 3-for-4 on the afternoon.

Edward Joyner and Brandon Warren were each 2-for-4 on the afternoon while Michael Morris was Kenneth Carroll each recorded one hit.

Brandon Warren tossed the final part of the game for Andy’s and struck out two.

David Brackett led Savin & Hill with two hits while Ben Kearney and Blake Sumner had one each.

Savin & Hill – 7, Golden Skillet – 0

Savin & Hill got 11 strikeouts in five innings of work from David Brackett to defeat Golden Skillet 7-0 in a Junior League game June 23. Brackett allowed only one hit during the shutout.

Brackett also led Savin & Hill at the plate with two hits. Ben Kearney, Michael Vaughan, Blake Sumner and Grayson Toms had one hit each.

Patrick Dilday suffered the pitching loss for Golden Skillet despite surrendering a single earned run and scattering two hits in four innings on the mound.

Chase Riddick had Golden Skillet’s only hit.

Stoney Creek – 10, Lions – 6

Stoney Creek got eight strikeouts from Mitchell Godwin and scored four runs in the final inning to secure a 10-6 Little League victory over Lions June 23.

Petey Boone closed out the game on the mound and struck out two. Boone also went 2-for-4 on the evening.

Daniel Merritt was 2-for-3 on the afternoon while Jeremy Eason was 1-for-1 with an RBI.

Casey Howard, who had three hits, including a homerun, led the Lions.

Jordan Harrell and Cade Larabee had two hits each while Brandon Owens also singled.

Athlete’s Foot – 11, Cooper-Melton – 5

Patrick Kirby was strong on the mound for Athlete’s Foot June 23, delivering an 11-5 Little League victory for his team as they defeated Cooper-Melton Bus Lines.

Tyler Burden also had three strikeouts in relief.

Chase Colson led Athlete’s Foot offensively with a grandslam and a single. Kirby, Dylan Foster and Anthony Sonnenburg added hits for Athlete’s Foot.

Rotary – 11, WOW – 2

Rotary six players with multiple hits June 28 as they knocked off WOW 11-2 in a Midget League game.

Eric Ortiz was the offensive leader with a 3-for-3 day including a double. Mary-Joe Harrell, Ryan Weaver and Blake Outlaw were all 3-for-4 on the afternoon. While Ackerman Grace checked in at 2-for-4.

Woody Lowe and Logan Jenkins also had hits for Rotary.

&uot;Everyone played and had a good time tonight,&uot; Rotary coach James Judge said.

Kiwanis – 6, Rotary – 5

Kiwanis improved to 10-0 on the season by edging Rotary 6-5 in a Midget League game June 29.

Bobby Merritt led Kiwanis with a 3-for-3 effort while Bryan Merritt was 2-for-3. Landon Larabee and Tyler Hall had a hit each.

Larabee picked up the pitching win with three strikeouts while Brandon Terry, also recording three Ks.

Ryan Weaver led Rotary with a 2-for-3 day while Ackerman Grace, Woody Lowe, Brandon Williams and Matthew Judge also had hits.

Rotary coach James Judge and Kiwanis coach Buddy Terry said both teams played well and had a good time.
