Parker Woodard wed May 13

PENDLETON – Kristin Leanne Parker of Cary and John Robert Woodard of Pendleton were united in marriage on Saturday the thirteenth of May at Roberts Chapel Baptist Church in Pendleton.

Dr. James Crocker officiated the 3:30 p.m. double ring ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Thomas Parker Jr. of Aulander. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Fredrick Deanes Sr. of Murfreesboro, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Thomas Parker Sr. of Como, and the late Margaret Lee Hock who made her home in Franklin, Va.

The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Howard Woodard Jr. of Pendleton and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Kindred Edwards and the late Mr. and Mrs. John Howard Woodard Sr., all of Pendleton.

Given in marriage and escorted by her father, the bride chose for her wedding gown a white satin dress with an organza overlay, square neckline, and cap sleeves. The fitted bodice was embellished with pearls, crystals, and sequins in a floral design. The full skirt was beaded along the hemline and cascaded into a cathedral train. For her headpiece she wore a two tiered veil of silk illusion edged with crystals and pearls. She carried a clutch bouquet of white Akita roses and stephanotis.

Paula Teresa Parker of Goldsboro served as maid of honor. Amy Woodard Marriott of Greensboro served as matron of honor. The bridesmaids were Julie Elisha Elkins of Glasgow, Scotland, Angela Marie Flach of Mascoutah, IL, Ann Kirby Beamon of Stantonburg, Susan Denise Nabinger of High Point, and Jennifer Perkins Howell of Wilmington. They wore cornflower blue satin A-line gowns with V-neck lines. They carried hand tied bouquets of pink roses, blue delphinium, and blue and green hydrangeas. The honorary bridesmaids were Virginia Sherrill Conley of Raleigh and Diane Elizabeth Post of Wendell. They wore knee length, strapless cornflower blue dresses and carried hand tied bouquets of pink roses.

John Howard Woodard Jr., of Pendleton served as the best man. Groomsmen were David Rom Beaman of Stantonsburg, John Nathan Beasley of Cary, Steven Justin Mann, also of Cary, Christopher Ryan Marriott of Greensboro, Brian Thomas Parker of Greenville, and Zachary Graham Taylor of Raleigh. Taylor Evan Edwards, the bridegroom’s cousin, served as program attendant and junior usher.

Victoria Caroline Tomlin and Kylie Shea Soniak, cousins of the bride, were flowergirls. They wore floor length white satin dresses with organza overlays, sleeveless bodices and beaded necklines and sashes. Logan Timothy Jones, cousin of the bride and William Robert Marriott, nephew of the groom, were ring bearers. They wore white Eton suits.

Nancy Brittenham, Vickie Hunnings, and Kim James, the bride’s aunts, served as mistresses of ceremonies.

A program of wedding music was provided by pianist Phyllis Mann, violinists Meredyth Corey and Elizabeth Shore, and vocalists Debbie Williams and the Reverend Jeffrey Skyles.

Following the wedding ceremony the bride’s hosted a reception and dance at Beechwood Country Club. Janie and Linwood Taylor served as greeters. Anne Edwards, Leigh Edwards, and Laura Edwards, the bridegroom’s aunts served punch. Katherine Deanes and Sandra Nabinger, the bride’s aunts, served cake.

The bride is a high school graduate of Eastern Wayne High School and received her bachelor’s degree in animal science from North Carolina State University. She is currently pursuing a degree in nursing from Wake Technical Community College and is employed at Chatham Animal Hospital of Cary.

The bridegroom is a graduate of Northampton County High School East and received a bachelor’s degree in biology with a minor in agricultural business from North Carolina State University. He is a chemist for Tritest Inc. of Raleigh.

Following their return from their honeymoon in Manteo the couple will reside in Zebulon.
