Como man arrested on drug charges

COMO – A Como man who had not been paying his child support has ended up behind bars with additional legal problems.

At approximately 2:50 p.m. on Thursday afternoon, Lt. Mike Stephenson and Deputy William Stephens of the Hertford County Sheriff’s Office were on patrol when they spotted 23-year-old Travis Blythe of 118 Chief Street Como walking down the street.

The officers were aware that Blythe had an arrest warrant issued in his name due to a &uot;failure to appear&uot; charge concerning a child support case.

The officers stopped to apprehend Blythe and, upon searching his person, found that he had in his possession 20 individually wrapped &uot;nickel bags&uot; of marijuana as well as another bag containing a large amount of the same controlled substance, not packaged.

Blythe was charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance with the intent to sell and deliver and was taken to the Hertford County Jail where he was placed under a $10,000 secured bond.
