Post 102 loses

AHOSKIE – Beaufort County Post 15 defeated Ahoskie Post 102 in a Senior American Legion baseball game here Saturday night.

The visiting squad scored eight runs in the top of the sixth to open up a lead and grabbed a 17-1 victory.

Beaufort County opened the scoring with one run in the top of the first and added two more in the third to secure a 3-0 lead after three innings.

Ahoskie scored its only run in the bottom of the fourth frame.

Heath Britt singled to center field, stole second and scored on a Tucker Warren RBI-single to center. Judd Whitehead walked, but a strikeout ended the inning with Beaufort County ahead 3-1.

Post 15 added two runs in the top of the fifth to go ahead 5-1.

They broke the game open in the sixth inning with eight runs. They added four runs in the top of the seventh to establish the 17-1 final.

Ahoskie had four hits. Ben Bright, Aaron Hoggard, Britt and Warren each had a single hit in the contest.

Warren tossed five and one-third innings for the loss. Bright, Michael Burton, Joe Harrell and Hoggard also saw time on the mound.

Ahoskie dropped to 0-5 on the season heading into tonight’s home contest with Edenton. They will square off at 7 p.m. at Hertford County High School.
