WINDSOR – Last week three local agencies worked together to promote seat belt safety.

The Windsor Police Department, North Carolina Highway Patrol and Aulander Police Department performed a Click It or Ticket campaign check point on U.S. 13 north of Windsor next to Edgewood Cemetery.

&uot;The main goal of the checkpoint was not to write tickets, but to increase awareness about the importance of wearing safety belts and encourage the use of child restraints,&uot; Windsor Police Chief Rodney Hoggard said.

During the check point, the officers involved issued citations for a myriad of offenses.

They included:

* 11 equipment violations;

* one no driver’s license;

* one driving while license revoked;

* one seat belt violation;

* two child restrain violations;

* one wanted person was arrested; and

* seven other violations including no insurance or expired registration.
