WOODLAND – One photo, that’s what Woodland Police Chief Don Ryan is hoping will stir the public’s interest in an armed robbery that occurred here last week.

Flashing a chrome-plated automatic pistol, a lone gunman walked into the Red Apple Market on the night of Monday, May 29 and demanded money.

After ordering two customers and two employees to the floor, the suspect, according to Ryan, warned those in the store not to look at him. He then went behind the counter and demanded money, which the clerk gave him.

The photo, taken from the store’s security camera, shows the suspect behind the cash register. Chief Ryan hopes the still image, while a bit blurry, will generate leads on the suspect’s identity.

“Up until the SBI was able to generate a photo from the security camera, we didn’t have a lot to go on other than a physical description of the suspect,” Ryan said. “Now we have an image of the suspect. Hopefully, someone will pick-up on something about this person and give us additional information.”

Following the heist, Ryan said the suspect left the Red Apple and headed towards the cemetery across the street.

The suspect is described as a black male who is 6’2&uot; to 6’5&uot; tall. He was wearing a red t-shirt with a white one on under it. He was also wearing jeans and a black cap and a stocking across his face.

Ryan said he was carrying a black backpack with zippers. The backpack, according to eyewitnesses, appeared to have something inside of it.
