RICH SQUARE – A female suspect is sought in connection with a felony larceny at the Rich Square Post Office.

Rich Square Police Chief Bo Roye said a black female in her 20’s was wanted for questioning after the Post Office clerk reported money missing from a cash drawer early yesterday (Wednesday) afternoon.

“Apparently, when the clerk turned her back on the customer counter, the suspect reached across and took money from the cash drawer,” Chief Roye said.

“The clerk told me she asked the woman if she needed help, to which the lady replied she did not,” Roye continued. “The woman then thumbed through some pamphlets and brochures near the counter, apparently waiting for her opportunity to rob the cash drawer.”

Roye said it wasn’t until after the suspect left the Post Office before the clerk realized what had happened.

The alleged theft occurred at approximately 12:55 p.m.

The suspect is further described as approximately 5’-6”, weighing 150 pounds and having a dark complexion.

As is customary in a Post Office incident, Chief Roye contacted the U.S. Postal Inspection Service. He said one of their inspectors was expected to arrive in Rich Square later on Wednesday to join him in the investigation.
