AHOSKIE – A tip from an Ahoskie resident has led to a drug arrest.

Antonio Faison, 19 of 112 PineGate Apartments, Ahoskie, was charged Thursday with felonious possession of cocaine and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia following a failed attempt to elude capture.

Ahoskie Police Chief Troy Fitzhugh reported that his office received a tip on Thursday from an Ahoskie citizen concerning what appeared to be suspicious activity at PineGate Apartments.

APD Officer Stephen White investigated the tip. Upon his arrival at the apartment complex, he noticed Faison walking and then running from the area. Another APD Officer, Kenneth Mizelle, was in the area and was able to end the pursuit of Faison.

The suspect consented to a search of his person at which time the two officers discovered drug paraphernalia.

Further investigation revealed a witness who said they saw Faison dropped something behind an air conditioning unit at the apartment complex. Upon searching that area, the two officers discovered a rolled dollar bill containing a white, powdery substance, later determined as cocaine.

Faison was arrested and transported to the Hertford County Jail under a $6,000 secured bond. He is scheduled to make his first court appearance on June 6.

“We really appreciate the information supplied by our citizens as we continue in our ongoing effort to remove drugs from our streets,” Fitzhugh said. “Their information is of great value to us and we encourage them to continue to call in tips. We will follow up on those tips. Together we can make Ahoskie a safer place to live.”
