HCHS falls to Northside

CHOCOWINITY – Northside scored four runs in the first inning and went on to a 10-0, five-inning victory over Hertford County High School here Saturday.

The baseball loss for the Bears came in the first round of the Southside Easter Tournament.

&uot;When we get hits, we cannot put them together,&uot; second-year skipper Chris Towell said. &uot;We fell behind early by giving Northside extra outs in the first couple of innings.&uot;

The Bears had three hits in the contest. They came from the bats of Ryan Matthews, Brian Burton and Ryan Staton.

Jake Dunlow pitched two innings for the Bears and suffered the loss. He had seven strikeouts. Burton pitched the final two innings.

Hertford County fell to 0-15 on the season with the loss. They were scheduled to meet the loser of a Jones County-Roanoke contest yesterday (Monday).
