Gates County High School has rolled off three consecutive tennis victories.

The Red Barons, who started the season 1-3, have won three straight to secure a 4-3 mark on the year after beating Bear Grass High School, Currituck High School and Hertford County High School.

GCHS started the spurt with a 9-0 win over HCHS on March 16 then topped Bear Grass and Currituck last week.

Top seed Adam Parker is undefeated for the Barons during the stretch. He has beaten Eddie Hall of HCHS, Justin Stallings of Bear Grass and Greg Metcalfe of Currituck.

Against HCHS, the Barons got singles’ victories by Josh Siddens, Clint Umphlett, Chris Clark, Tony Dawson and Graylen Boone.

In addition, Parker and Umphlett, Siddens and Boone and Dawson and Smith teamed together to win in doubles action.

Last week, the Barons used four singles victories and a doubles’ sweep to secure the win over Bear Grass.

In addition to Parker’s win, the Red Barons got singles victories from Umphlett at number four, Deon Gatling at the five seed and Chris Espinoza at the number six seed.

In the doubles action, Parker and Ryan teamed together to win in number one doubles while Siddens and Gatling and Clark and Boone also grabbed victories.

In the win over Currituck, Gates County split the singles outings and then swept in doubles to secure their third consecutive win.

Gatling at number four and Clark at number six teamed with Parker to win in singles.

In doubles, Parker and Umphlett won, as did Siddens and Gatling and Clark and Boone.
