Warriors win three

WASHINGTON – Lawrence Academy continued to roll here Monday.

The Warriors topped Terra Ceia Christian Academy twice and improved to 11-1 on the season after sweeping the doubleheader.

In the process of upping the win counts, Chad Whitehead and Joe Harrell picked up their first varsity pitching victories. Lawrence won by counts of 12-1 and 11-1.

In the first game of the series, Whitehead went all three innings and struck out four batters. The eighth-grader walked only three.

Chase Elliott and Harrell led the way for the Warriors offensively. Both were 2-for-2 on the day. Elliott had three RBIs and Harrell added one.

Gray Harrell was 1-for-2 in that contest.

In the second game, Harrell pitched two innings, giving up one run and striking out five. The freshman walked three.

Zack White had the best offensive production, going 3-for-3 with a double and a triple. Gray Harrell and Elliott were each 1-for-2. Harrell had a three-run homer in the contest.

Those two wins come behind a 15-3 decision over previously unbeaten Cape Hatteras.

Jonathan Brantley picked up the win after going five innings and surrendering only two hits.

&uot;Jonathan Brantley pitched a really good game,&uot; second-year coach Robert Kravitz said. &uot;He was throwing strikes, hitting sports. It was the best game he has pitched.

&uot;We also played good defense, which I was pleased about,&uot; Kravitz said.
