Annie Hoggard

WINDSOR n Annie Mae Todd Hoggard, 93, a native of Bertie County, died February 24, 2006. She was the widow of Kelly Edward Hoggard.

A graveside funeral was conducted Sunday at Edgewood Cemetery. Walker Funeral Home was in charge.

Mrs. Hoggard retired from Belk’s Department Store and attended Siloam Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Harry Hoggard of Huntersville; a brother, Edgar A. Todd of Windsor; three grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Audrey P. Green

CHARLES CITY, Va. – Audrey P. Green died Feb. 21, 2006.

A funeral was conducted Monday at First Baptist Church, Dendron. Stallings Funeral Home, Gatesville, was in charge.

Mickey L. Phillips

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Mickey L. Phillips, 51, died February 20, 2006.

Survivors include his son, Robert &uot;Michael&uot; Phillips of Colonial Heights; and sisters, Shelia Avery of Dunn and Pamela Cornelius of Corapeake.

A graveside service was conducted Saturday at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Elm Lawn, Norfolk. Altmeyer Funeral Home, Virginia Beach Chapel, was in charge.

Mary S. Memory

RALEIGH n Mary Suiter, a native of Garysburg, died February 23, 2006 at her home. She was the widow of Thomas Memory. Mrs. Memory was a math teacher at Needham Broughton High School for nearly 20 years.

Survivors include twin daughters, Susie Memory Baird of Nashville, TN and Stella Memory Crutchfield of Oak Ridge; and two grandsons.

A funeral was conducted Monday at Hayes Barton United Methodist Church.

Memorials in Mrs. Memory’s honor may be made to Hayes Barton United Methodist Church, Fairview Road at Stone Street, Raleigh, NC 27608. Brown-Wynne Funeral Home St. Mary’s Street was in charge.

Lona Worley

SUNBURY n Lona Mae Story Worley, 59, a native of Franklin, Va., died February 25, 2006 at her residence. She was the widow of James Worley.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Mt. Horeb Cemetery, Franklin, by the Rev. James Ashby. Wright Funeral Home is in charge.

Survivors include two daughters, Daphne Taylor and Deborah Boykin; one son, Jack Wayne Cornett; twin sister, Lena Roberts and other sister, Mary Seal; and eight grandchildren.

Willie Goodwin

EDENTON n Willie Edith Emminizer Goodwin, 98, a native of Chowan County, died February 2, 2006 in Britthaven of Edenton. She was the widow of G. Hoskin Goodwin.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. in Macedonia Baptist Church by the Rev. Bob Young. Burial will be in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be directed to Macedonia Baptist Church, 1004 Macedonia Road, Edenton, NC 27932. Miller Funeral Home, Edenton, is in charge.

Mrs. Goodwin was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Frances G. Langston of Gates and Peggy G. Dees of Edenton; two sons, Willard H. Goodwin of Chesapeake, Va., and Howard Paige Goodwin of Washington; a sister, Nina Baker of Edenton; a brother, Keith Emminizer of Norfolk; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Vernon Bowser

DELAWARE CITY, DE n Vernon “John Will” Bowser, died February 25, 2006 at Governor Bacon Health Center.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Reynolds Funeral Home Chapel, Ahoskie, by the Rev. Robert Lewis. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Church Cemetery, Harrellsville.

Gladys W. Perry

AHOSKIE n Gladys Wynn Perry, died February 25, 2006 at Pitt County Memorial Hospital, Greenville.

James R. Newsome

PENDLETON n James R. Newsome, 87, died February 25, 2006 at Halifax Regional Medical Center, Roanoke Rapids.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Zoar Missionary Baptist Church, Pendleton, by Pastor William F. Denson. Interment will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home. Faison’s Funeral Home, Inc., Seaboard, is in charge. A viewing will be held from 1 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Rufus Outlaw

COLERAIN – Rufus Outlaw, 54, a native of Bertie County, died February 26, 2006.

Effie C. Beale

POTECASI n Effie C. Beale, 89, a native of Hertford County, died February 24, 2006 at Halifax Memorial Hospital.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Jerusalem Baptist Church, Woodland, by the Rev. Eddie Vinson. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A wake will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Hertford County Undertakers Chapel, Winton.

Survivors include one son, Michael Eason of Hasting, MD; one brother, Otis Powell of Ahoskie; two sisters, Virginia Bush of St. John and Blannie Majette of Potecasi; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

PHILADELPHIA, PA n Jerry Carr, 31, formerly of Roanoke Rapids, died February 24, 2006 at his residence.
