ROCKY MOUNT – Lawrence Academy swept a doubleheader from Rocky Mount Academy here Wednesday.

The Warriors grabbed a 6-0 win in game one thanks to a no-hitter by T.J. Johnston and then rallied from a 7-0 deficit to win 14-8 in game two.

&uot;I still think we’re doing an excellent job of hitting the baseball,&uot; second-year coach Robert Kravitz said. &uot;I thought we were very fortunate to win the two games without our strongest pitchers since both of our starters were on jayvee last season.

&uot;We had no errors which was huge,&uot; Kravitz added. &uot;If we hit the ball, play defense like that and get good pitching, we’ll be alright.&uot;

In game one, the Warriors jumped out to a 3-0 lead when Judd Whitehead’s two-RBI double scored Gray Harrell and Dusty Todd. Whitehead then scored on a passed ball to give the Warriors a 3-0 advantage.

Lawrence added two more in the second when Todd’s double brought home Harrell and J.T. Lilley to make it 5-0.

The Warriors added one insurance run in the fifth frame when Jobie Thomas scored on a Zack White sacrifice fly.

Johnston went all five innings, giving up no hits while striking out three and walking three.

Harrell led the Warriors offensively with a 2-for-2 afternoon at the plate with two runs scored. Whitehead was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. Todd was 1-for-2 with a double and two runs scored.

Rocky Mount jumped out to an early 7-0 lead when they plated three in the second and four in the third inning.

The Warriors began their comeback in the bottom of the third when they plated three runs to get within four (7-3).

Thomas started the scoring when he doubled home Jacob Harrell. Thomas scored on a White single after Daniel Oliver walked.

Oliver then scored on a Lilley RBI-single to make it 7-3.

After Rocky Mount scored in the top of the fourth, Lawrence then plated 11 runs in the bottom of the frame to take the win.

Todd, Holden McClenney, Thomas and White all had RBIs in the frame to secure the victory.

Todd led the Warriors with a 2-for-3 day at the plate including four RBIs. McClenney was 2-for-3 with three RBIs and Lilley was 2-for-2 with two RBIs.

Lilley took the win in relief while Jonathan Brantley closed out the game on the hill.
