Davis assumes Director’s role

WINDSOR – Effective Monday, Sharon Davis will become director of the Windsor-Bertie County Chamber of Commerce.

Davis, who has worked with two chambers of commerce in Florida, moved to Bertie County recently to be closer to her family.

The new director came to the Windsor Board of Commissioners meeting Thursday where Interim Chamber Director Bill Hazelgrove introduced her to the town board.

&uot;I’m very excited about this opportunity,&uot; Davis said. &uot;I want to help Windsor be a better place than it is already.&uot;

She served as Administrator of the Small Business Council and Education council for the Greater Melbourne (Fl.) Chamber of Commerce as well as being responsible for all fundraising activities.

She had the same duties for the Seminole County (Fl.) Chamber of Commerce in Casselberry, Florida.

Davis was also a member of the mentoring program and arts festival council of Brevard County and a member of Leadership Brevard and Leadership Seminole County.

Davis is a native of Florida who moved to Windsor. Her parents, Roy and Marlene Padgett, live in the area.

Davis and her husband, Harlin Davis, have five children and 12 grandchildren.
