MERRY HILL – Dusty Todd and Daniel Oliver combined to pitch a one-hitter Tuesday.

Those performances lifted Lawrence Academy to an 8-2 win over 2-A Parrott Academy in a none-conference baseball contest.

&uot;We beat a good team today,&uot; second-year coach Robert Kravitz said. &uot;They are ranked fourth in the state in a 2-A preseason poll. They beat us last year, so we got a little revenge today.

&uot;Dusty pitched a great game and we hit the ball well,&uot; he added. &uot;I am pleased with how we are playing right now.&uot;

The Warriors wasted no time getting on the board, scratching for one run in the bottom of the first inning.

Todd singled to get the inning started and stole second base. He then scored on an RBI-single by Holden McClenney to give the Warriors a 1-0 lead.

Lawrence added two runs in the bottom of the second inning.

Jobie Thomas singled before J.T. Lilley reached on a bunt single. Jonathan Brantley reached first on a fielder’s choice which erased Lilley.

Thomas then scored on a Gray Harrell RBI-single and Brantley came around when Todd reached on an error.

The result was Lawrence grabbing a 3-0 lead after two innings.

In the fourth frame, the Warriors broke open the game when they plated four runs to grab a 7-0 lead.

Todd reached on a fielder’s choice and then scored on a Judd Whitehead RBI-triple to left-centerfield. Whitehead then came home on a wild pitch to make it 5-0.

McClenney reached on a walk and then came all the way around to score on a Thomas double to right field. Lilley plated Thomas with an RBI-single to give the Warriors the 7-0 lead.

The Patriots’ only runs came in the top of the fifth when they scored two on an error and a wild pitch.

Lawrence’s final run of the contest came in the bottom of the same inning when Todd doubled to center, advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on another wild pitch to make it 8-2.

Todd went five innings to pick up the win. He allowed two runs on one hit and struck out eight.

Oliver worked two innings in relief, allowing no runs or hits and striking out two.

Lawrence improved to 3-0 on the season with the victory. They travel to Wilson to participate in Greenfield’s tournament Friday and Saturday.
