Howard E. Perry

GREAT FALLS, Montana n Howard E. Perry, 75, a native of Colerain, died January 26, 2006 at his home.

No services were held. O’Connor Funeral Home was in charge. Memorials are suggested to the Shriners Travel Fund.

Perry attended Wake Forest University and spent 29 &rac12; years in the service, serving in the Philippines, Japan, Thailand, Korea and Okinawa. He was a member of the Shriners Algerian Shrine; Delta Lodge No. 138 AF&AM and the Scottish Rite n Valley of Great Falls.

He married Jo E. Wiseman at Langley Air Force Base, Va., in 1953.

Mary Davis

ROANOKE RAPIDS n Mary Davis, 90, died February 4, 2006 at Halifax Regional Medical Center.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete. H.D. Pope Funeral Home, Roanoke Rapids, is in charge.

Donald R. Sharpe

ROCKY MOUNT n Donald Ray “Chubby” Sharpe, 45, died February 3, 2006.

Elizabeth Phelps

WINDSOR n Elizabeth Byrum Phelps, 93, a native of Bertie County, died February 6, 2006. She was the widow of Herman Phelps.

A graveside funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Edgewood Cemetery by the Rev. Michael Bailey. Walker Funeral Home, Windsor, is in charge.

Mrs. Phelps was a retired seamstress.

Survivors include four grandchildren.

Phyllis G. Kennedy

PINEHURST n Phyllis Garris Kennedy, a native of

Pender County, died February 4, 2006 at Moore Regional Hospital.

Mrs. Kennedy served as Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce, Windsor.

Survivors include her husband, Jack Kennedy of Pinehurst; sons, Michael Kennedy of Wilson, Gregory Kennedy of Grand Canyon, Arizona; mother, Shirley Hewett Garris of Apex; sisters, Jane Garris Watts of Carrboro, Beth Garris Hardy of Reidsville; brothers, John Garris of Apex, and Kenneth Garris of Greensboro; and grandchildren.

A memorial service was conducted Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church, 414 Sunset Road, Wilson, by the Rev. Jim McKinnon and Dr. William Presnell officiating.

Designations to the NAMI-NC Family-to-Family Education Program would honor the passion Phyllis Kennedy had for her work in mental health. Murriel M. White

MERRY HILL – Murriel McCoy White, 48, died February 4, 2006.

A funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday in Peterson Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. Gilliam Funeral Home, Windsor, is in charge.

Julia P. Whaley

SUFFOLK, Va. – Julia Parker Poole Whaley, a native of Eure, died February 7, 2006 at Obici Hospital. She was the widow of Leslie Poole and Dennis Whaley.

Mrs. Whaley graduated from Gatesville High School. She then graduated as a registered nurse from Saint Vincent DePaul School of Nursing in 1942 in Norfolk where she worked for some years. She was director of nurses in East Orange, N.J., and later worked at Albemarle Hospital in Elizabeth City and for a short time at Obici Hospital.

Survivors include her sisters, Mary P. Luke and Velma Askew Dilday of Suffolk; stepson, Stephen C. Whaley; and three stepgrandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Cool Spring Baptist Church by the Rev. Wayne Gardner and Lois Hunt. Burial will be in the church cemetery. R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge. Condolences may be registered at www.rwbakerfh.com.

Joseph Bazemore Sr.

MITCHELLVILLE, MD. n Joseph William Bazemore Sr., 62, a native of Bertie County, died February 5, 2006 in Mitchellville.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Peace Baptist Church, 712 18th St. NE, Washington, D.C. Burial will be in the Veteran’s Cemetery, Washington, D.C. J.B. Jenkins Funeral Home, Landover, is in charge and Wilder’s Funeral Home, Inc., Aulander, supplied information.

Bazemore was a 1961 graduate of R.L. Vann High School and attended Elizabeth State University for two years. He was a U.S. Army veteran for eight years.

Survivors include his wife, Freddie Bazemore of the home; a son, Joseph Bazemore Jr.; three daughters, Valdase, Tioga and Kia; a brother, John H. Bazemore Jr. of Beauford, SC; two sisters, Willie Garrett Bazemore and Lenora Powell, both of Windsor; and seven grandchildren.

Mary Davis

LITTLETON n Mary Helen Thornton Davis, 90, died February 4, 2006 at Halifax Regional Medical Center, Roanoke Rapids.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Plumbline Holy Church, Enfield, by Elder William Smith. Interment will be in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Roanoke Rapids chapel of H.D. Pope Funeral Home. Loyd V. DeLoatch

SEABOARD n Loyd Vinson DeLoatch, 77, died Monday, February 6, at his home in the Galatia Community.

A native of Northampton County, he was retired from the Georgia Pacific Corp. in Conway, he farmed, and he was a member of Galatia Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Joyce Kirkland DeLoatch of their home; one daughter, Victoria D. Taylor and her husband, Stewart of Scottsdale, AZ; two sons, Ronnie DeLoatch and his wife, Amy, and Randy DeLoatch of the Galatia Community; seven grandchildren, Michelle Maher of Zionsville, IN, Shannon Cady of Mesa, AZ, Abby DeLoatch and Whitney DeLoatch of the Galatia Community, and Dillon, Hunter and Cole DeLoatch of Milwaukee; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, John DeLoatch of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Frank DeLoatch of Franklin, Va.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, 11 a.m. in Galatia Baptist Church by the Rev. David Foster. Burial will follow in the Town of Conway Cemetery. The family received friends at Bridgers Funeral Home, Inc. in Conway on Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and have requested that anyone wishing to share a memorial gift, please do so to the Conway-Severn Rescue Squad.

Kameron N. Parker

COMO n Kameron Nichole Parker, age 10 weeks, died Feb. 6, 2006 at Roanoke-Chowan Hospital in Ahoskie, N.C.

Kameron was born Nov. 28, 2005 in Ahoskie, N.C. She was preceded in death by a grandfather, William Moye and two uncles, Jessie Long and James Forbes.

Survivors include her mother, Kristina Parker; her father, Cornelius Moye; her twin sister, Kaylee Chanel Parker of the home; her grandparents, Bill and Ardie Parker of Como, N.C. and Shirley Long of Murfreesboro, NC; her aunts and uncles, Kathy Parker, Paul Jordan, Charles Parker, Helena Long, Franchesca Woodley, Roger and Susan Norris, Clarence Woodley, Peter Woodley, Edna Lynch, Louise and Gene Hughes, Linda and Walter White and Sylvia Turner. Also many cousins and friends.

Graveside services will be held, Thursday, Feb. 9, 2006 at 3:00 PM at The Williams-Parker Family Cemetery near Powellsville, NC with the Rev. Paul Ange officiating.

The family will receive friends at Massey Funeral Home in Aulander, Thursday from 1:00 PM until 2:30 PM and other times at the home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family.
