EDENTON – It was the LaMarcus show.

Friday night saw Hertford County High School standouts LaMarcus Jenkins and LaMarcus Bond each score double digits as the Bears rolled past Edenton 80-45.

The Bears got off to a fast start, getting hoops from Jenkins, Bond and Tydreke Powell to take an early 6-0 advantage.

They maintained that mark throughout the first quarter, leading 14-8 at the end of the period.

The second period started well for the Bears as Antonio Branch hit for two just before back-to-back buckets from Powell made it 20-8. Edenton, however, got back within six on four points from Donyell Spears and a pair of free throws by Brian Leary.

Hertford County was able to put some distance between the two teams before the half, rolling off a 12-5 spurt to take a 32-19 lead.

The Bears got a three-pointer from Jenkins, a pair of buckets by Bond and a hoop by Wayne Pryor along the stretch.

The Bears continued to pull away in the second half, scoring seven of the first nine points

of the third quarter to go ahead 37-21.

The big change came in the fourth period when the Bears started the quarter with a 15-0 run. Jenkins was the big man on that run, scoring nine of the 15 points as the Bears rolled to a 64-27 lead.

In addition to double-digit scorers, the Bears got nine points from Powell, eight from Marcel Henneghan and six each from Branch and Patrick Downing.

The victory moved HCHS to 17-2 on the year and 8-1 inside the Northeastern Coastal Conference.

They will be at home tonight (Tuesday) when Pasquotank County High School comes to call.
