Jackson woman faces fraud

JACKSON – A telephone call from Sprint seeking payment led to an arrest.

A woman in Littleton received the call from the telephone company seeking payment for an overdue account in Northampton County. The problem was the woman had no account for a Jackson telephone number.

&uot;After the phone call, her husband contacted us and advised that an account had been opened in the victim’s name,&uot; Chief Detective Daryl Harmon of the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office said. &uot;We found the address and began our investigation.&uot;

Det. Harmon said the telephone number was traced to the address of Nancy Dickens Watson, 53, of 407 West Calhoun Street in Jackson.

Watson was brought in for questioning and subsequently admitted opening the account, Det. Harmon said.

She was charged with Financial Identity Fraud, a felony, and placed under a $3,000 cash bond after being arrested December 17.
