Rogers J. Boone

JACKSON n Rogers Jordan Boone, age 83, of Jackson, died Friday, November 25, 2005.

A native of Northampton County, he was born December 22, 1921. He was the son of the late Dr. Samuel Bell Boone and Camilla Moore Boone. Mr. Boone served his country during World War II as a member of the United States Army. He was retired after many years as a farmer.

Surviving are his wife, Jane Barrow Boone of the home; his daughter, Jane Boone Hedden and her husband, Joe of Winston-Salem; three sons, Mark Rogers Boone of Jackson, John Bynum Boone and his wife Dana of Jackson and William Paul Moore Boone and his wife, Pat of Jackson; one sister, Camilla B. Turner and her husband, Felton of Jackson; seven grandchildren, Karren B. Ricks, Ashley Boone, Joanna Boone, Joseph Leonard, Adam Leonard, Justin Boone and Laura Boone; and one great-granddaughter, Sarah Kathryn Ricks.

Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, November 28, 2005 in the Church of the Savior Church Cemetery in Jackson with the Rev. Foy Bradshaw officiating. The family received friends Sunday from 4 until 5 p.m. at the Episcopal Church Parrish House in Jackson. In lieu of flower memorial donations may be made to cemetery fund of the Church of the Savior, P.O. Box 613, Jackson, NC 27845.

Arrangements were handled by Sykes Funeral Service in Rich Square.

Lourine C. Parker

RICH SQUARE n Lourine Copeland Parker, 87, a native of Northampton County, died November 24, 2005 at Roanoke-Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Rich Square First Baptist Church by the Rev. William Clark. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Wilder’s Funeral Home, Inc., Aulander, is in charge.

Parker was a member of Rich Square Baptist Church. He was an usher, craft ministry and Sunday School Class # 11.

He is survived by grandsons, nieces and nephews.

Nonie W. Newton

CHESAPEAKE, Va. – Nonie Watford Newton, 97, a native of Bertie County, died November 23, 2005, in her home. She was the widow of Eddie C. Newton Sr.

Mrs. Newton was a member, Church Mother, usher and Sunday school treasurer for many years and member of the Pastor’s Aid Club at Union Missionary Baptist Church, Suffolk.

Survivors include four daughters, Annie Mae Maddrey of Carrsville, Va., Elizabeth Newton of Portsmouth, Dasiel Thompson and Shirley Wilson, all of Chesapeake; four sons, Leroy Newton of California, W.D. Newton, Fred Lee Newton and Marvin Newton, all of Chesapeake; 22 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and 20 great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral was conducted Monday in Union Missionary Baptist Church by Bishop C.V. Russell Sr. Burial was in the church cemetery. Corprew Funeral Home was in charge. Condolences may be made to www.corprewfuneralhome.com.

Christeen C. Davis

COLUMBIA – Christeen Chaplin Davis, died November 25, 2005. She was the widow of

H. Edward Davis Sr.

Survivors include her children, Faye D. Crumpler of Cary, H. Edward Davis Jr. of Columbia, Dale D. McDuffle of Gatesville, Ann D. Smith of Kitty Hawk and Lory Lee Davis of Apex.
