ELIZABETH CITY – Despite rallying from a 10-point deficit, Bethel Assembly Christian Academy’s Lady Eagles came up short here Monday night.

Kelli Hoggard scored 10 points in a solid game on the inside to help the Lady Eagles rally, but Victory Christian took a 34-32 victory.

&uot;I’m proud of the team for fighting back from a 10-point deficit,&uot; first-year coach Buddy Denton said. &uot;It was a hard-fought battle to the end.&uot;

Victory jumped out to a 10-4 lead after the first period, but Bethel came back to cut the deficit to two (16-14) at the intermission.

The Lady Eagles surged ahead 25-22 by the end of the third quarter, but Victory came back for the victory.

Kayla Overton had nine for the Lady Eagles followed by Mindy Miller with five points.

The loss dropped Bethel to 2-2 on the season.
