WOODLAND – The Northampton-East Automotive Team (N.E.A.T.) will host their ninth annual Electric Vehicle Rally here Friday and Saturday, Nov. 4-5, at Tri-County Airport.

With all the hype surrounding the recent spike in gasoline prices, this event is expected to draw added attention.

The rally begins at 9 a.m. on Friday where eight high school teams will check-in. An inspection of all vehicles follows at 9:15 a.m. Pit crew competition begins at 10:30 a.m. followed by lunch at 12 noon. The acceleration competition begins at 1 p.m.

Special entertainment will round-out Friday’s agenda.

At 9 a.m. on Saturday, teams will engage in the trouble shooting competition. That will be followed by the range event at 10:30 a.m.

Trophy presentations will close out the two-day event at 11:45 a.m. on Saturday.

In addition to Northampton-East, other participating high school teams include Northeast Guilford, West Carteret, Topsail, Roanoke Rapids, Northern Vance, Southern Durham and Central Shenandoah Governor’s School (Va.).
