Ola J. Kellough

CHESAPEAKE, Va. –

Ola White Johnson Kellough, 87, a native of Bertie County, died October 25, 2005, at her residence in Lafayette, Tenn. She was the widow of the Rev. James E. Johnson Sr. and William L. Kellough.

Mrs. Kellough was a dietitian retired from the Virginia School Board with 16 years of service. She attended the Lafayette Church of God.

Survivors include her daughters, Esther White, Gwendolyn C. Woodruff, Eva Mae Latham of Lafayette and Mary E. Schrecengost of Westmoreland.; a sister, Nonie L. Harris of Aulander; 22 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral was conducted Wednesday at Lafayette Church of God in Lafayette, Tenn. Interment was held Friday in Riverside Memorial Park, Norfolk. Oman Funeral Home was in charge.

Nancy T. Rice

RALEIGH n Nancy Tadlock Rice, 97, formerly of Ahoskie, North Carolina, died peacefully at Rex Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Center, Raleigh, on Thursday, October 27, 2005.

A native of Bertie County, Mrs. Rice was the daughter of the late Lewis B. and Willie R. Tadlock of Windsor, N.C.

She was a graduate of East Carolina Teachers College with a degree in Elementary Education. She taught school for 33 years and was the first teacher to introduce Special Remedial Reading for North Carolina State Schools.

Nancy, lived in Ahoskie for over sixty years and was an active member of Ahoskie United Methodist Church. She was a former member of the Junior Woman’s Club, and was a charter member of the Thursday Book Club.

She is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Lester Burney Rice of Rex Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Center, Raleigh; one daughter, Patsy R. Overton and husband Charles of Raleigh; two grandchildren, Margaret O. Spears and husband Raymond, of Benson; and Kathryn O. Wright and husband Bob of Garner; three great- grandchildren, Amanda Spears, Bradley Wright and Blair Wright.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 30, 2005, at Garrett Funeral Home, 205 N. C. Highway 42 West

Her daughter, Patsy, wishes to express sincere gratitude and appreciation to the staff of Rex Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Center of Raleigh for the care and kindness they gave Mrs. Rice while in their facility.

She was a devoted wife, mother, friend, and Na-Na to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be missed greatly by her family and all who knew her.

Evelyn C. Hull

WINTON – Evelyn Clay Hull 72, a native of Halifax County, died October 27, 2005.

Mrs. Hull was a cataloguer for Albemarle Regional Library and a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Joseph N. Hull; two sons, Joseph Stanley Hull of

Greensboro and Christopher Alan Hull, Murfreesboro; a sister, Marian Haney of Nashville; four grandchildren; and her mother, Mildred Smith Clay, Rocky Mount.

A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday at Elmwood Cemetery Enfield, by the Rev. Gilbert Crawford. The family will meet at the cemetery 2:45 p.m. prior to services. Garrett Funeral Home, Ahoskie, is in charge. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Redell A. Deloatch

JAMAICA, N.Y. – Redell A. Deloatch, 69, died October 23, 2005.

A funeral will be at noon Saturday in Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Margarettsville. Faison’s Funeral Home Inc., Seaboard, is in charge.

Dennis E. McGinnis

MANTEO – Dennis E. McGinnis, 85, a native of Genesee, Pa., died October 26, 2005, in Bel Air, Md.

McGinnis was a World War II combat soldier who served with the Army engineers in the European and China-Burma-India theaters. He was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He spent his engineering career with the National Park Service serving in a variety of disciplines in a number of our nation’s parks. He also, served on the Town of Manteo’s planning board.

Survivors include his wife, Helene Keesler; five sons, Dennis of Culpepper, Va., Brian of Bel Air, Md., Kevin of Sunbury, Sean of Hickory, and Terry of Nags Head; four sisters, Mary Burke of Philadelphia, Theresa America of Hurley, N.Y., Patricia Wolfe of St. Mary’s, Pa., and Joan Close of Genesee, Pa.; and six grandchildren.

A memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Twiford’s Colony Chapel. Following the service, the family will receive friends at the Dunes Restaurant in Nags Head. HAMPTON, Va. – Jeanette Flythe Wheeler, 80, died October 26, 2005, at Northampton Convalescent Center.

Mrs. Wheeler was a dental courier and lab technician. Currently, she was a member of Central United Methodist Church in Hampton.

Survivors include her husband, Travis &uot;Pete&uot; Wheeler; her son, Doug Wheeler of Newport News; and two daughters, Judy Carolyn Dyson of Chester, Va. and Brenda Lively of York County, Va.; one brother, Bill Flythe of Tennessee; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

ROBERSONVILLE n Lenton Holley, 80, a native of Bertie County, died October 24, 2005 at Williamston Rehabilitation Center.

Holley was a retired supervisor with Personality Plastic Corporation, New York, and a member of Masonic Temple Cosmopolitan Lodge #72.

Survivors include three daughters, Joyce M. Spivey of Robersonville, Catheline Holley of Harlem, NY and Peggy S. Holley-Grubbs of Raleigh; one sister, Willie Lou Parker of Merry Hill; 21 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
