Andrew Hill Sr.

MURFREESBORO n Andrew Hill Sr., 85, a native of Hertford County, died September 6, 2005 at Roanoke-Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie.

A funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church by the Rev. E. Hill. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A viewing will be held from 2 to 2:45 p.m. at the church. Hertford County Undertakers, Winton, is in charge.

Survivors include his wife, Cora Darden Hill of Murfreesboro; four sons, Andrew Hill Jr. of New York, NY, Herman L. Hill and Joseph R. Hill, both of Murfreesboro and George R. Hill of Franklin, Va.; one daughter, Missouri E. Bates of Baltimore, Md.; 14 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Rosa M. Whitehurst

LEWISTON n Rosa M. Whitehurst, 74, died September 6, 2005 at Bertie Memorial Hospital, Windsor.

A funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at Lighthouse Tower Ministry For All People, Lewiston. Burial will be in the Veale family cemetery, Lewiston. Gilliam Funeral Home, Windsor, is in charge.

Daphne W. Copeland

MERRY HILL – Daphne White Copeland, 94, a native of Bertie County, died September 7, 2005, in Chowan Hospital. She was the widow of Carlton N. Copeland.

Mrs. Copeland was a homemaker and a member of Riverside Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Carl &uot;Cotton&uot; Copeland and Woody R. Copeland, both of Merry Hill; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Hillcrest Cemetery, Colerain, by the Rev. Al Jarrell. Friends may join the family at her residence. Miller Funeral Home, Edenton, is in charge. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the building fund of Riverside Baptist Church or to a relief fund of choice to benefit the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Nina Ricks

JACKSON n Nina Mae Woodard Ricks, 104, a native of Northampton County, died September 7, 2005 at her home. She was the widow of Lloyd Riddick Ricks.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Conway Baptist Church by the Revs. Willie McLawhorn, James Hester and Sid Collins. Burial will be in the Town of Conway Cemetery. Bridgers Funeral Home, Inc., Conway, is in charge.

Mrs. Ricks was a member of Conway Baptist Church having served in the Britton-Lanneau Circle and singing the choir. During her later years, she attended Zion United Methodist Church.

Sandra Banks

PINELLAS PARK, Fla.

n Sandra Huff Banks, 63, died September September 7, 2005 at Sun Coast Hospital in Largo.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete. H.D. Pope Funeral Home, Roanoke Rapids, is in charge.

William Earl Skinner

William Earl Skinner, 75, of Huntsville, AL went to be with his Heavenly Father Sept. 7, 2005 in a local hospital. He was born in Bertie County, son of the late Ioma Mae Overton Skinner and Levi Gray Skinner. He was the husband of Joyce Helms Skinner. He was retired with 30 years of service in the United States Army.

He was a member of the American Legion where he served on Honor Guard, he was also Past Commander of the Disabled American Veteran's Chapter 26 in Huntsville.

Survivors beside his wife of 52 years is four sons, Jerome Key of Texas, Ronald Skinner of Geneva, AL, Donald Skinner of Huntsville and Dennis Skinner of Ardmore, AL; one daughter, Ann Jelomas of Huntsville; two brothers, J.E. Skinner of Williamston, NC, and Lonnie G. Skinner of Murfreesboro; one sister, Alice Faye Lassiter of Aulander, NC; 17 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to West Huntsville Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in Valhalla Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Scott Gossett.

Visitation was held Friday from 5 to 8 p.m.

Willie Parks

AULANDER – Willie Parks, 71, a native of Northampton County, died September 8, 2005 at Nash General Hospital, Rocky Mount.

Parks retired from Newport News Shipyard, Newport News, VA, and was a member and deacon at Elm Grove Baptist Church, Aulander.

He was also a member of
