WOW Lodge to honor America’s heroes

MURFREESBORO – We remember.

Woodmen Lodge will conduct a special patriotic ceremony to honor the heroes and victims of September 11, 2001 and to salute the local heroes who protect our community.

The ceremony called &uot;In Honor and Remembrance – Woodmen Salutes America’s Heroes&uot;, will include recognition of the police officers, members of the armed forces and others who help safeguard our community and our nation throughout the year.

The date, time and location of the ceremony are as follows: Sunday, September 11, 2005 at 2:00 p.m., Jefcoat Museum, 201 West High Street, Murfreesboro, NC. The ceremony program will include the dedication of a new flagpole, bronze plaque, American flag and patriotic songs. Dignitaries in attendance will be the Hertford County Sheriff, Murfreesboro Police, Murfreesboro Fire Department, Murfreesboro Rescue Squad, Town Mayor, Jefcoat Museum Officers and Historical Association members. This is the fourth year Woodmen has sponsored the In Honor and Remembrance project, with more than 1,600 ceremonies having been conducted by Woodmen lodges since 2002. The ceremonies, held at town halls, police and fire stations, schools and other community buildings, include the dedication of flagpoles and commemorative plaques and the presentation of U.S. flags.
