MURFREESBORO – The 2005 Chowan College men’s and women’s soccer season is set to start this weekend as they both travel south for their season openers.

The women’s team, who is coming off their most successful season in history, will open at St. Andrews College on Saturday.

First-year skipper Georgina Donnelly will make her season debut as head coach with almost two weeks of preseason practice under her belt.

The women finished the 2004 campaign with a 13-6-4 overall record, a NCCAA South Region Championship, and a 3rd Place NCCAA National Finish. Their opponent St. Andrews finished up at 3-12-2 in a very tough CVAC league.

The men will open the weekend with a double-header at Mt. Olive College, featuring host-team Mt. Olive and St. Andrews College. The team is set to play Mt. Olive on Saturday followed by St. Andrews on Sunday. Both games will be played in Mt. Olive, NC.

Rob Battisson will make his head-coaching debut with the Braves this weekend after one week of preseason practice under their belts. The team is coming off a 4-9-3 season in 2004 and returns eight players from last season’s squad.
