Final suspect behind bars

GARYSBURG – The final member of a group charged with a rash of vehicle break-ins is in custody.

Deon J. Walker was arrested August 9 and charged with two counts of breaking and entering a motor vehicle, one count of felony larceny, one count of possession of stolen goods and one count of misdemeanor larceny.

Walker was placed in the Northampton County Jail under a $10,000 secured bond and will have his first appearance today.

He becomes the eighth suspect arrested in connection with the break-ins which occurred in Garysburg the morning of May 28.

Northampton County Sheriff Captain Daryl Harmon investigated the break-ins. He said most of the stolen equipment was CD players and stereo equipment.

Also charged in the incident were Cedric Wendell Jarrell, Craig O’Neal Mangrum, Antonio Latrell Webb, Omar Shareef Wood, Quentin Hicks and Montino Hicks. The eighth subject was a 14-year-old juvenile.
